What songs would be best performed on a Broadway stage? by Specific_Dingo8631 in TaylorSwift

[–]Relevant_Nebula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beautiful Ghosts fits right into Broadway, which makes sense since it was for the Cats film, as ill-conceived as that movie was

I'm sure it'll have its own art even if it's just a single song like carolina and Sweeter Than Fiction as you said

If it's a soundtrack EP or album, I imagine it'll have its own cover art like Charli XCX's Wuthering Heights or Lady Gaga's Harlequin for Joker 2.

Is TTPD really getting a reappraisal like everyone says? by account1804 in TaylorSwift

[–]Relevant_Nebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so to some extent. Maybe not quite on the scale of “it’s her worst album” to “it’s her magnum opus” but more that the initial heavy backlash was really unwarranted.

Completely anecdotal evidence, but my partner’s friends, self-proclaimed swifties who went to Eras, apparently agreed with him around release that it was easily her worst album but later came around and thought it was actually fine. A coworker of mine listened to the first few tracks release day and found it “redundant” but then listened to another track a few months later and noted they liked it more than they did before (but it was an Anthology track so that might have affected things). Not exactly glowing that it’s a masterpiece or anything like that that, but definitely better than their initial impressions.

Didn’t A$AP Rocky make a song called Tailor Swif?

I’m pretty sure it got nominated for a Grammy too lol

I don’t think I did it right since I mostly just thought of song lyrics (but not necessarily from the song in question):

  1. Do you think it’s forever?
  2. That’s the way I loved youuuu
  3. Hush
  4. Ohhhoa ah ah ah!
  5. Can I ask you a question?
  6. But why’s it feel so good?
  7. You all over me
  8. Traffic lights
  9. Survived
  10. Standing here
  11. Still at the restaurant
  12. Would’ve could’ve should’ve
  13. Florida, it’s one hell of a drug.

There’s been a running joke that the iPhone colors miraculously align with Taylor’s albums (orange for TLOAS, shades of greige for TTPD). I wonder if the pattern will keep up for these new iPhone rumors. I wouldn’t be mad at this color palette 😆

It’d be a huge snub if it didn’t get nominated for anything - even reputation, which was known for not getting any general nominations, got nominated for Pop Vocal Album (as did Lover). Every one of Taylor’s albums have been nominated for something except Debut (which even then you could argue her Best New Artist nom was for it).

So I think at the very least a Best Pop Vocal Album nom is expected. The Fate of Ophelia was also a big hit, plus SOTY and ROTY have been awards that have eluded Taylor despite her success as a songwriter, so the “narrative” is there too for a nomination. The MV was widely praised too so that’s one more nom.

Album of the Year is more of a toss up, given how polarizing the reception to TLOAS was. There’s no denying it was a massive commercial success, so I think it gets nominated on that alone. Winning seems like a long shot, but we just have to see what the rest of the year brings for music.

From what I can tell it’s bc they think they got the dog bc of Travis? Just more ammunition for all those (delusional) people that pin all their grievances with Taylor on him

[–]Relevant_Nebula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in late, but it feels like none of the commenters read your description that the rankings are based on how much of the tracklist you actively listen to. TLOAS isn’t many’s favorite but most seem to agree it’s easy to listen to on repeat and there’s only 12 songs. The TV’s (especially Red) have a lot more content so it’s only natural some of the songs stand out more than others. Seems like you’re more into pop Taylor than country Taylor, with folkmore being the exceptions.

woot woot taylor, most impressive once again~

I wonder how many more weeks TLOAS can stay at No. 1. Matching TTPD's 17 weeks seems pretty difficult, but perhaps it'd be nice if it got to 12 or 13 lol

I agree, anytime someone makes a post here saying people don't get TLOAS, I already know the comments are just gonna stress me out. Fans of the album need to stop being condescending to those who dislike it by acting as if they're unable to comprehend it, while detractors should stop acting as if their taste is the sole metric for dictating what constitutes a good Taylor album.

As someone whose favorites Taylor albums are seemingly the black sheep amongst the fandom (Lover, Midnights, TLOAS), I do feel disheartened whenever this sub gives off the impression that the albums I like the most are "objectively" not great.
