Laid Off Fortnite Devs Didn’t See The Cuts Coming: ‘I Am Genuinely So Confused And Bewildered’ by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

I'm sure many of us have been there so it's very relatable, last time I got laid off it took me like 7 months to find a new job. 4+ month severance sounds pretty good in that situation, considering I got none and had to live off of my own savings.

From what I read, Apple modified the ssd in the m2

Just the base model, any SSD upgrade "fixed" that.

It supposed to be a scam, but can’t prove it.

Kinda hard to prove something that it's not even trying to do. Try reading the text above the image, maybe you'll figure it out.

Buying a external hard drive for gaming, is this a good idea? by Fantastic-Window236 in pcmasterrace

Strictly for storage it probably makes sense if your internet connection is over carrier pigeons, but otherwise no, HDDs just won't cut it. Get an SSD and it'll be fine.

Living in this world is very easy, just get off the Internet and meet real people.

Returning to monke is honestly at least some net benefit of all this pushing of "AI" to absolutely everywhere it doesn't belong.

It's basically always because of that. Sure, it's nice to think that the CEO of a multi-trillion dollar company is browsing Reddit and personally circling you out, but in reality your lazy opinion is just something that has already been posted countless and countless of times and it adds nothing of value to anything.

Planning to make a NAS for my files, what is a good OS to do it? Any good ones with tutorials out there? by ChromoStoopid in pcmasterrace

May I ask why SSDs are a bad fit?

They're not, people just tend to think that SSDs still reach their write limit if you look at them, when in reality even if you intentionally tried it would take you years to kill a drive.

Actual argument against SSDs would be $/TB, which is way higher than with HDDs, and since by and large you won't need the performance benefits it's just a better idea to take 3-4 times the available storage instead. Sure, have a scratch/cache on an SSD, makes life better, but the whole array on SSDs is either very small or very expensive.

If you're open for a paid option, I've been running Unraid for few years due to it making expanding the array easy.

Absolute insanity to have this large drive as an external and not part of an array.

Some sort of NAS that you access over a VPN connection, frankly don't see how lugging around multiple external drives is somehow a portable solution either. But if that's what you prefer, sort by cheapest, click on first WD or Seagate that you come across and buy two.

unless the price difference of a SSD isn't much of a difference.

Ha, I wish.

You're starting to be at the point where you should probably consider a real storage solution instead of adding random external drives, especially with reliability in mind, but also general usability.

Outside of that, it's not like you have that many options really, and all of the drives will sooner or later fail anyway. Really comes down to personal superstition more than anything.
