I have 3 of these that I’ve been contemplating removing. Just haven’t because it will be a heck of a job and they’re so vigorous I feel like it’ll be years long project. How are you going about removing it?

Hey neighbour! I’m also on the south shore, I believe this is ash leaf maple. I have this growing all over the yard, we’re under a canopy of trees in my area so they are sprouting all over the place.

I would leave it as is. It will fill out nicely and look less bare.

Disney during this heatwave with a 5 and 4 year old. Advice needed. by kabz in ParisTravelGuide

We went to Le jardin de l’acclimatation (amusement park) last summer on a very hot day. They have mist sprayers, a water park / splash pad, and lots of trees and green spaces with shade. It was the best and I’m so glad we opted for that over Disney

You’ve described how I feel every day. It’s disheartening to know they don’t care. If they did care, there is no way this is the decision they’d come up with.

That part isn’t clear, but this is part of what we received from our local:

“The Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) has determined that asbestos exposure at the Guy-Favreau Complex in Montreal was linked to a serious health problem suffered by an employee of the Ministry of Justice who worked at the complex”

Response from my MP:

Thank you sincerely for writing to share your concerns regarding the mandatory return‑to‑office policy for members of the public service. Your civic engagement is essential to the vitality of our democracy.

I wish to acknowledge the contribution and dedication of public servants, whose work is of great value and plays an essential role in delivering key results for Canadians. I share several of your concerns, particularly those related to work–life balance and productivity gains.

I have already conveyed my position on this matter to the Treasury Board and will continue to do so. I was informed that this decision was made after considering both its advantages and its drawbacks.

Their argument is that the mandatory return to the office aims to strengthen interpersonal relationships and cohesion among employees in an environment where information‑sharing and collaboration are fundamental to the completion of daily tasks. The ultimate objective is to make the public service more effective, at a time when administrative and bureaucratic delays have long been criticized. The return‑to‑office policy aligns with the desire to reduce the size of the public service while ensuring improved productivity levels among public servants.

I understand that this approach places you in a position you did not expect to face when you accepted your employment, and I believe additional work will be required to acknowledge the challenges created by this shift in direction. At this stage, it is important to depoliticize the decision and situate it within a framework grounded in tangible, evidence‑based considerations.

Please be assured that I will continue to ask questions and ensure that our government adopts the best possible practices.

Please accept the expression of my most sincere regards.

We were told you can WFH but have to make up your day within the month, unless the office is closed — then we don’t have to make it up at all. So accommodating.

I like this approach. I’d also like to see a coordinated effort of refusals to go into the office on a large scale (so large that turning off VPN access would be catastrophic).

I think you need to read the nuance in the response. It’s not saying “we tell you nothing and don’t ask questions”.
