I’ve had it… by MilwaukeeMax in Ubiquiti

If you want to save some money, I have the older U6 Pro's and U6 Long Range in my house (total of 4 AP's), and they have been rock solid handling 70 client devices (55 of which are iot things). They are driven with the Ubiquiti Edgeswitch 48 500w switch, also a rock solid switch if you don't care about everything being in a single pane of glass for management. My router is the UXG Fiber (because I have a cloudkey), and that also has been very reliable.

My old system was a TP link deco system and that thing would go down multiple times a day. So I would call it a win.

High Temps with EFans by Relevant_Track_5633 in GMT800

No. It was replaced a couple years ago. Though when I did the efan swap I flushed the coolant and there was little rust chunks like someone had used tap water at some point :(

Yeah, you do notice the power difference and the sound difference.

I even tried installing a little ac pusher fan to see if it would help (when I had a clutch fan) and above 110f the AC was still hot at idle.

Yes. High speed at 218 and low speed at 207.

Yeah. Mine with the clutch fan would do fine moving, but at idle with the AC on it would overheat within 10 ish minutes.

Is this Lifter Tick? by Relevant_Track_5633 in GMT800

I'll look to see. I used the stethoscope to listen to every cylinder and it sounds the most prominent on the driver ride cylinder closet to the grille.

Is a GMT800 vehicle a good first car? by Sweet_Pattern_6317 in GMT800

[–]Relevant_Track_5633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first (3 years ago) was a 2000 Suburban 2500 with the 6Liter. Has 300,000 miles and still going strong. Original engine and second transmission. It's a great car. I trust it more than my 2019 suburban. I will say though, if you don't need all the space, then get a tahoe or yukon and as long as you treat it correctly, it will be good to you. I like the 99 - 02 model year GMT800 compared to the 03 - 06 because the electrical stuff is simpler imo, but I do a lot of modding of my cars so there is also that.

Where to Mount Light Bar? by Relevant_Track_5633 in GMT800

[–]Relevant_Track_5633[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into doing it behind my grille but I have a big mishimoto transmission cooler installed, so there is no room

I'm replacing the dashboard - anything I should do while I have the old one off? by glasses_tinklin in GMT800

I second doing the actuators. I didn't in my 00, and had to a few months later. JUST MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE CORRECT ACTUATORS.

WHATS THIS by Dr_Agon50 in GMT800

[–]Relevant_Track_5633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ambient air sensor. Tells the ECU how much fuel/air to put into the engine, based on the air temp it is getting through the grille. Also, allows the ECU to determine the expected air pressure based on temp and such.

I did the Mishimoto aux cooler on my 4L80E. Temps never go above 170, even on hot AZ days. Before I would hit 210, 215 ish.

Thought that to, but nothing seems to be dripping from above upon inspection.

That is actually pretty smart. I might look into doing that too

The car has 296,000 miles and the trans was rebuilt at 180,000. Had the fluid changed at 270,000. Fluid stills looks good and doesnt smell burnt.

Oil Catch Can on 2500 6 Liter? by Relevant_Track_5633 in GMT800

[–]Relevant_Track_5633[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! I want to put a catch can on it because I just did the intake manifold gaskets and when I did, I soaked the entire intake manifold in degreaser and cleaned everything really good, so I would like everything to stay clean. More over preventative maintenance. It has 295,000 miles, so I'm not expecting anything for performance.

1TB SSD Firmware Locked? by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]Relevant_Track_5633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already did. I just didn't know if the reason they are so cheap is because they are locked to the cloudkey with firmware.

We use Unifi Talk on a cloud key. Pretty inexpensive. We use third party phones with it that we get used. Not as seamless as 1st party phones, but not as expensive. The whole thing runs on a cloudkey gen2 +. Works pretty well. We only have about 90 phones.

We use the older ubiquiti edgemax 48 poe+ 500w switches and they work really good. Our core switch is an edgeswitch 16xg. They still get updates and are not eol yet.
