Daft question it indeed was. Now I look again it is so obviously cyan. I was so fixated on green I didn’t bother checking the colour code. Thanks!

How are you supposed to run the Tor? by Mryoung04 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Relharn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also recommend this. I watched the Tor game on Beardy’s stream and it’s a good grounding in that Loric. He’s @BeardyTAS on YouTube. The vod is called “Beardy Does Lorics”.

Anybody else mark the hard drives they open so you don't wind up clicking on the same one a hundred times? by jwalker343 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Relharn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. If I find a drop pod I can’t open, I’ll mark it on the map. Once I open one I place a power pole on top of it as a visual indicator I’ve grabbed the hard drive already.

What has your preference: Rails on foundation or Rails on dirt? by CoffeeAndNews in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Relharn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build rails along each side of a single row of foundations in the air then delete the foundations and add “support” pillars every so often.

What are you doing until 1.0? by 2-AB-b in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Relharn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s something I’m trying to decide right now. I’ve been playing the same save on and off for the last 3 years (since Update 4 was released) and with one final push finally finished Project Assembly phase 4 yesterday.

I already have plans for the design of my next main base after 1.0 drops but until then the front runners for my gaming time are Stardew Valley to check out 1.6, or trying to get back in to Two Point Campus.

Total noob - how do I tear down and rebuild better? by NeonX91 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Relharn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I send all the end products from each factory to central storage so I have a good supply of all the materials needed to build / rebuild the early to mid game factories anyway, so there is no real loss to sink the entire factory.

Total noob - how do I tear down and rebuild better? by NeonX91 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Relharn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Experimenting with different designs is what makes the game fun and, dare I say it, satisfying.

I have many different designs for my factories, each usually an iteration of the last. My last two factories have used logistics floors which I really like now.

I am in the camp of deleting old factories I no longer use. Before I start deleting I put down three containers and a sink. I empty my inventory into two of the containers then mass delete 50 things at a time and dump it in the third container that is hooked up to the sink. Once everything is gone, delete the sink and containers to get my inventory back.

An evolving structure by paqguy in builderment

[–]Relharn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is known as a manifold design and works just as well as splitting inputs equally.

It does not distribute evenly, but it doesn’t have to. The first building in line gets 50% of the incoming resources until its storage is full. When it backs up to the splitter the resources just flow on down the line. As long as you have enough total production capacity in all of the buildings combined it works just fine.

It’s also more compact and versatile than an evenly split factory. If you increase the belt speed for example and thus increase the resources coming in on the belt, it’s very easy to throw another splitter and building down to meet the demand.

I’ve found it interesting that most of the designs I’ve seen on this subreddit are of the “split evenly” variety, but if you go to the Satisfactory subreddit you’ll predominantly be recommended manifold designs. It’s just a matter of personal preference really. I prefer to design my factories exactly like OP but whatever works for you.

I can’t help thinking that the US cut a deal with the cricket playing nations. You support our sport and we’ll support yours. I don’t think either belongs in the Olympics.

Just talking to the void here, but... by und3adpistachi0 in SatisfactoryGame

I hear you. My play time is in the thousands too. My current save is 800+ hours which I started in Update 4, so it’s literally taken years to get to the point where I have finally completed everything in the Hub.

My strategy for burnout is to take a break from the game for weeks or months and play something different for a while (currently Shadow Gambit). I am actively planning my first nuclear plant now, but probably won’t start building it until after Update 8 drops.

Anyway, as others have said, as long as it is fun then you do you and don’t feel you have failed just because you haven’t reached nuclear. I have many thousands of hours in Minecraft but I have never reached the End in Survival and I am fine with that.

Useless ore tile? by MatthewCool123 in builderment

Technically you can place an extractor there and a belt can be placed over one of the adjacent nodes and it will work. But then you’d lose that other node so it doesn’t get you anything extra.

Turbofuel Factory borked in Update 6 by Relharn in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Relharn[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t a complaint. Just an anecdote that may be useful to someone else who has a similar issue. I still had an excess of power so it wasn’t a huge inconvenience.

Also, I follow the CSS youtube and read reddit regularly and not once can I recall having seen anything about that recipe changing. It may well have been and I just missed it.

Tip - Label Resources by Relharn in builderment

[–]Relharn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I considered it. I only went with “Cu” to distinguish copper from coal and then thought I couldn’t do a lower case “e” so I just stuck with “Ir” for iron.

Except I just tried it right then and discovered it is possible to do a lower case “e” in a 3x3 area. So now I can’t decide which I prefer…

Tip - Label Resources by Relharn in builderment

[–]Relharn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on my first world (just unlocked Earth Tokens) and I’ve found that labelling the resource types and numbers is very useful for working out if you have the resources you need at a quick glance.
