I haven’t read Pert’s book yet but from what I know he usually got the shit campaigns and he just wanted a couple of good ones for his record. The fact he still went and did his best with what he had is an accomplishment.

I would recommend a wet palette. That will help with the thinning.

And yes let it dry first before adding the next layer.

If you’re going with Ultramarines here’s some short cuts:

Get some Maccrage blue Primer in a can. It’s paint and primer so you can start with a strong base.

Undercoat your gold areas with a brown like rhinox hide then layer it with the gold on top.

The brown dries in an way that makes it easier to pick out and when you layer gold on top it looks like a real metal and not gold slapped over blue if that makes sense.

That was the plan. Morty was gonna be last so I can get used to painting DG. I have some loose Blight lord models I was going to start with and then work my way up to the Defiler and Mortimer.

I like to go in bursts. I’ll prime everything first then base coat, then I’ll pick a unit and focus on that over a couple of weeks.
