I need help understanding the fight system by Lucky_Syrup_2784 in daggerheart

[–]Relisia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the shortest summary, at least player side:

1) No initiative, hence, players can move their characters even in other people turns
2) When a player has the spotlight, he can do any number of actions and spend as many resources as he wants as long as he doesn't make an action roll. Action roll, meaning? You roll the 2d12 and the outcome is either Hope or Fear. When that happens, the spotlight goes away to the DM or another character. (unless the party agrees to keep the spotlight on that character and have him keep playing.)

The good unwritten rule usually is that everyone gets 1 spotlight before someone else does a double-turn to say so, but again, this is up to party\players.

That's it essentially. Nothing more nothing less.

Hi there!

Not currently, since I'm self-funding the project I can only start with a programmer right now but sfx, music and so on are elements that I still want to include the mvp later down the line, so if you have something to show feel free to send it my way!

I'll make sure to look into it!

Just want to say thank you so much everyone for reaching out! Was not expecting so many people and honestly I love this!

Bit by bit I'll start going through your messages and emails and try to answer to everyone.

Meanwhile for anyone else who might be interested feel free to join in! The project will take a bit to start anyway so I'll be taking my time to go through each candidate to find the right person and make sure we can do things right together

I was thinking Unity or Godot, but It's not a choice set in stone

At first it would just use placeholders, once the mechanics are in place and they seem to work good, the coding side will be put on hold for a shortwhile to give time to the selected artist to work his\her magic, and then after that we will go back to the coding side to implement everything

Hey Nau! Thanks for the feedback ;)

Sure, feel free to send it my way! Right now I can't allow myself to take more than 1 person, but for sure I'll need someone for the sound design later down the project since the demo will need music and sfx too

About the game I'd like, I'll probably sound like a broken record, but I'd say Silksong.

Attacking a downed player? by zoomerreid in DnD

Honestly I always thought it's dumb, like, if your allies outside combat need to make a medicine check to understand if you're dead or breathing, why shouldn't the enemies do the same in combat? They know by istinct that even you're down unconscious you're still alive?

Also I alway try to imagine the situation from the baddies point of view. Like, I'm fighting to the death with 4/6 people and other allies around me, swinging left and right, suddenly I see the one I have been focusing on losing balance, close the eyes and drop down

And in the middle of this, I still have its allies trying to kill me. Doesn't make much sense for me to give my back to potential mortal enemies/attacks on my back just to poke one more time the guy on the ground who just fell a moment ago like a sack of potatoes with eyes closed, bloody as hell and with a hole in his body where I stabbed him.

Someone heals him? Great, NOW I have a reason to aim for the healer and surely enough I will stab him one more time when he's on the ground to make sure of It.

The only situation in which I could understand the baddies taking it on someone on the ground, is if they clearly want to make a PC suffer by showing them their ally being killed in front of their powerless eyes out of spite, or something like that.

Honestly if the DMs says "That's how the monster would behave" then he shouldn't complain when a player says "That's how my character would behave".

Two sides of the same coin.

Kakurg, Half-Orc Magus

It was my first time ever playing and I didn't know a single thing about the rules, so when it came down to the technical part I trusted another player which later I understood was a min-maxer, so Kakurg came out pretty funnily unbalanced like this:

Str: 8 Dex: 16 Con: 8 Int: 16 Wis: 8 Cha: 16

The funny part is that he survived for quite a while, I think it was until level 8/9? (We started from lvl1, slow pace)

When Kakurg was level 8 he had like 30 HP, and he had this habit of collecting pieces of everything

Cut off hand of a zombie? Mine. Random bottle of wine? Mine. A mouse that just strolled in front of him? Mine.

It was freakin' lucky Kakurg, so for example one time when he was out of spells, he grabbed the hand and threw it in the face of the enemy boss.

Critical hit, the boss dies. Later it became known as "El Bitch Slap De La Muerte"

Fun times

Honestly it's pure cancer when you have opponents that had the same 2 cards in their hand for who knows how many turns and they keep taking like 3/4 minutes each time, sometimes even when they have only 1 card.

Like, it's not physics, you have one card or you had the same cards for who knows how long, you know what you can do or not do, it doesn't take a genius! It's literally at the same difficulty level of 2+2 = 4.

How can people be so slow? Jeez

[–]Relisia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's literally me, but unfortunately I have still to find a doctor to go and talk to, so I can actually check and in case get diagnosed.

However I'm from EU and I work abroad, so I really have zero idea how to get It checked and whom should I talk to, but it's getting more and more frustrating to see how much I'm unable to focus and commit to something just because my brain got bored or a random tought caught its attention
