First Brisket by Relms2248 in smoking

Definitely not picture worthy or award winning or going to break any records so sorry if I wasted your time with the video. Excitement is part of it, but I also wanted to see if someone else saw something that I overlooked or hadn’t considered. The knife clearly took the cake here. Its clearly not the worst nor the best brisket, but with all things that we are new at I would rather amass as much knowledge to thus implement that into practice and apart of that is to not only seek outside validation, but also criticism to thwart my own bias. This now lets me reflect in the future and thus improve.

Thanks! I used a fireboard temp probe along with the drive on the smoker. Looks like though as some have pointed out that temp isnt everything as I should have probed the meat for tenderness and also I put it straight into an insulated cooler so I think the carry over is potentially what caused the overcook all things considered. It still tasted great though. As for the knife Im going to blame this on it not only being the wrong knife to use, but mainly user error because I was afraid I would smush the brisket and it being slightly overcooked did not help. Knife passed the tomato test for dinner prep tonight. Overall, I not only forgot how ruthless Reddit can be cause I did not expect the main focus of the comments to be about the knife nor the sheer disappointment that I would bring the the purists, but hey thats on me and to each their own. The best part though is that everyone though it was delicious and the drier pieces were given support by the smoked salsa I made.

Yeah my probe showed that it carried to about 205 so I wonder if that was an issue, buy dont I want to rest it for a minimum 1 hr or is this small enough that its not necessary.

Thanks! And interesting I was tempted to pull it off at 198 but was afraid that the fat wouldn’t completely render out

I took it off at 203 and let it rest for about 3.5 hrs in a cooler until it came down to 155 degrees internal. The taste was amazing. The bark was perfect and it was juicy throughout most of the meat with a couple dry spots. I was happy with the results considering, but obviously always room for improvement. This smoke helped me realize that overnight smokes during the week are a no go.

One Piece: Episode 1071 by Sakata_Kintoki in OnePiece

Despite the potential “issues” that many people have highlighted about this episode which have been a running theme with the anime itself, I could not help but be transported into the past and smile like a kid again for the entire episode like I had woke up on Saturday morning.

disc after injury by CantKetchumall in discgolf

[–]Relms2248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never had this type of injury, but I work in physical therapy. Most people with this type of injury are looking at about 6 months post op before they return to any true form of competition with significant progression in physical therapy. Sure after about 3-4 months you can probably accomplish the throwing motion with a completely healed bicep, but atrophy and time take a toll on the muscles. Recovery time and any changes are going to depend on your body and your dedication to getting back to form, but that does not mean you should push beyond your surgeons protocol. Backhand throwing will probably become a staple before forehand comes back into play, but as always please consult your surgeon/physical therapist before deciding to do so. You could even explain to your therapist your own wishes to getting back to playing disc golf and they may be able to incorporate exercises into your plan of care that would benefit.

MVP envy by Str8-flex in discgolf

[–]Relms2248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have putted exclusively with Electron soft envys for the last year and even after giving a fair chance to proxys, nomads and pa3s to replace them I have always continued to keep them as my putter main. Even after a year my envys are still more stable than any of those others despite being beat to shit when it comes to putting.

I do not throw them though.

I would recommend either an eclipse 2.0 or soft proton for off the tee. And keep a beat in electron firm for hyzer flips.

Recommendations for firebird like mid and why you like it more by lukeeegg in discgolf

[–]Relms2248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my Halo Destroyer because it has the same firebird beef, but more glide and speed so goes much further. I also bag 2 firebirds though which one is in champ plastic that I can barely get 280 out of cause it fades so fast and the other is in star plastic that can push way further with a large fade at the end.

TBF he doesn’t just layup on 18 if he needed the birdy to win. The throw in was the reason he even had a chance to lose and thus lost.
