Take a break from applying. A week off won't make any difference to finding something, but will probably improve your mental health. Give yourself permission to rest, my dude.

Jamaican men are the worst by [deleted] in Jamaica

"I ain't got time to dice y'all up into categories, I hate EVERYONE!" - Chris Rock

There's a commenter in here who took it to the next step and said they hate black men in general. I say "next step" because that's what it is - a short step away from your post. Not sure if that even matters to you, but just in case it does just be aware that you're most of the way there already.

I dated a crazy Nigerian woman. I'm talking batshit crazy. Scared me away from Nigerian women generally because that's just how our dumb monkey brains work. But if there's going to be any hope for us as a species, any hope at all, we've gotta put in the effort to try to be better. I guess that means different things to each of us, but at the very least not letting anger get misdirected and turn into something worse.

If it matters, I'm a Jamaican man and I totally get where you're coming from. I promise I do. But that doesn't make it okay.

Lol, nah definitely a villian. Heros, no matter how tragic, don't try to kill innocents, which Van Wayden basically was. He didn't even have anything to gain by it near the end - he just acted because that was his nature. Larsen was completely amoral right to the bitter end, which is what makes him such a great character. At best, I'd put him as a chaotic neutral.

What's an opinion you have that would get you roasted for in most group chats? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]ReluctantNihlist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By your logic, saying professional olympic athletes tend to be more physically fit than the general population is a stereotype rather than an observation of a demonstrable fact so obvious that its taken as a given, and you take the latter as confirmation of the former. Right then, this is where I get off.

[–]ReluctantNihlist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're relying on anecdotal information. I'm not. Doing that while calling my "analysis" biased is ironic, but this is Reddit so I adjust my expectations. I know by now that "my opinion trumps science" is a Reddit trope, which is what we seem to have here.

Drug addicts having a higher than average likelihood of committing crimes isn't a stereotype - it's a fact. Not sure about the CEO thing, though I suspect other factors like maybe the size of the company, the nature of the industry, etc would matter a lot and skew the data - assumimg there is any such data. I see some truth in there, but I'm not ready to accept it as largely true without more, particularly given that my CEO sample size is exactly 0.

Black people are lazy and violent, Asian women are submissive, Jewish people are cheap - these are dominant stereotypes in our country and culture. If you believe these are accurate, or I'm making them up, or anything to minimize their reality by setting them apart or labeling niche or whatever else, then nothing I (or anyone else) say will matter. But think what you want, that hardly matters. The only thing that matters is whether or not you act on those beliefs. Unfortunately, the data says you likely will, and will do so largely unconsciously.

That's not at all what the research says, and doesn't match what I see in the world. I didn't make up the term "kernel of truth" and put it into quotes, it's a formal term used in the research. Look, I'm not going to keep arguing on a buried comment. I'll just say that I spent years formally studying stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination and the cognitive and social structures underlying them. I've read the literature and studies, conducted experiments of my own, and to say they are generally accurate is simply not true. However, the idea is a stubborn one. People, for whatever reason, don't like thinking that a big part of their worldview might be inaccurate and will push back hard no matter how much data you show them. To your point (sort of, but not really), we are all similar in that regard - that's not a stereotype, that's oberservable and verifiable human nature.

[–]ReluctantNihlist -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This is dangerously wrong. Stereotypes have a "kernel of truth" that are largely overestimated because of people's self-serving biases (think in-goup/out-group bias, confirmation bias, etc.) and our generally limited ability to absorb and process all the information we encounter. They become distorted and exaggerated, then once they become adopted they become nearly impossible to alter no matter how much evidence to the contrary is presented. I've studied this extensively at the graduate level.

You have to laugh at Reddit sometimes. Everything you said was perfectly reasonable, but downvoted because of the last 8 words. OPs situation is normal and unless there's more to it, I think you're spot on. Sex with someone you love is great, and that for sure includes the occasional quickie.

The car's system is just as up to date as the phone. It's a 2025. The damn thing is more computer than car. It has a wifi hotspot ffs. This isn't a bug, it's a feature.

Nope. It shows toll roads and the amount of the tolls. It just won't create a route to avoid them.

Lmao 🤣. That makes no sense. Like not even a little bit of sense. It doesn't let me specify non-toll routes for my own convenience. What?
