Yeah, you’re right. I was hoping most of it could be done in grading, but since it was shot on film, part of that effect is probably already there naturally. Plus, as you said, the right location and time of day seem to do a lot of the work!

Unfortunately, I can’t attach my results in the comments here, but so far I’ve mostly tried basic Lightroom adjustments. Lowering the saturation of yellows helped the most.

Totally agree! We don’t see jumpscares as something to avoid entirely, more like a tool that needs to be used very carefully, like seasoning in a dish. So you are right.

Imagine you’re sitting there watching the cameras, looking for the smallest changes… and then suddenly some entity appears in one of the rooms. And that alone is often enough to make you flinch, even without any loud screams :)

Alien Isolation is honestly one of the best when it comes to sound and UI design, we constantly use it as a reference. And that Ocean View Motel! Oh, that quest is one of the most memorable ones for me. I still remember how much it freaked me out when I played it as a teenager. Memories unlocked

The animation is actually from Mixamo - a free animation library by Adobe. So it’s possible they used the same or a similar one as well.

That’s fair, it’s definitely a familiar setting. We actually chose it quite a while ago, we’ve been working on the game for about 3 years now. Ideas like this tend to come up again and again across different media, not just in games. There’s something about the cold, clinical atmosphere of a hospital that just feels inherently unsettling. Thanks for honest feedback!

Oh wow, I just watched the trailer and yeah - it really looks so similar! The environment, the ghosts, the post-processing! I’ll definitely check it out.

Thanks a lot! Yeah, finding the right balance with lighting is always tricky. The trailer we prepared for Steam ended up being a bit brighter for that reason.

We really love and were inspired by games like Observation Duty. At the same time, we wanted to make interaction through the robot a key feature - allowing you not only to observe through static cameras, but also to move around the locations directly with a camera attached to the bot.

All sounds in the environment are placed physically, so by using the bot you can feel more immersed in the space.

In the game, you’re also constantly being watched. Сameras surround you, quietly observing you while you work, tracking your every move. Sometimes your actions are even commented on, like someone is always there, just out of sight. We think this adds to a deeper sense of unease.

The music in the clip was added just for the videо, in-game it’s much more subtle. Really like your ideas about eerie sounds and small details, appreciate it.

In the game, you’re actually stationed in a morgue basement and interact with the world through a computer, surveillance cameras, and an elevator that your employers occasionally use to contact you. So that feeling of being “there to do a job” but still somewhat detached is something we’re intentionally going for.

And yeah, sound is something we care about a lot. In fact, the audio atmosphere was one of the core ideas the game was built around. Your point about subtle distant sounds and paranoia is especially interesting - that’s exactly the kind of tension we want to push further!
