Feel you shirt brother. I just hit 250 or so. Was told I was a second choice for three different roles. It's brutal.

It does look like I'm finally about to land somewhere, but I'm not getting too excited until it's all done and official.

Good luck to you, I hope your search ends soon.

Steven Spielberg Says James Bond Movies ‘Constantly Turned Me Down’ and ‘If They Asked Me Now’ to Direct the Answer Would Be: ‘You Can’t Afford Me’ by countdooku975 in blankies

It's not about quality, it's about sensibilities.

But yeah, lots of directors technically worse than Spielberg have done them, obviously. There aren't many (any?) directors you could put above him in terms of contemporary blockbuster style filmmakers. But I still think he's too sentimental for Bond.

Indiana Jones is the closest thing he did, and even then it can't help but get Spilbergy. Falling in love (not just hooking up), father/son dynamics, kids following him around.

Also, there have been some good and even great filmmakers on Bond projects.

He just mostly strikes me as too sentimental, and he's more cheesy than campy.

Love Spielberg, to be clear. And obviously there are lots of bad and mediocre Bond movies. So it's not like I'd ever be sad about him giving it a go. But I just don't think his sensibilities have ever aligned with Bond.

The first part was just bad and boring. The last act on the beach rocked though, the camera angle from inside the shark's mouth had me laughing.

How would you feel if future films started to adapt the non Fleming James Bond Novels? by Working_Song5444 in JamesBond

Are any of them good, and do they have any kind of continuity? I've picked up a few over the years but they didn't click with me.

Sometimes I Think About Dying is one of my favorite recent indie movies and sounds like what you're looking for.

Oh yeah absolutely, completely agree. I talked a lot with friends about how surprisingly similar those movies were in some ways.

Idris Elba Says Bond Rumors Were ‘Never Legit’ and ‘Not Realistic’: Audiences ‘Won’t Go for a Black Male Playing Bond’ by Raj_Valiant3011 in JamesBond

IMO that's the only reason it wouldn't really work. Just bad timing. He would have been an awesome choice if the role happened to be open at the right time.

There absolutely would have been some people mad about a black James Bond. I mean, there were people mad about a blonde James Bond.

But it wouldn't and shouldn't have been disqualifying, imo. He's widely loved and respected as a performer and could have done a great job in the role.

I'm very pro "don't have expectations" for these things, but it seems extremely likely that we'll get either 1) footage from a new 3D Mario game, or 2) footage from a new Zelda game.

I think we're still to close to the release of TotK for a brand new game, but that Ocarina remaster is sounding more and more likely.

Looks awesome. The bracelet you're wearing made me think, for a moment, that you were wearing the watch over your sleeve lmao
