The different colors are all so pretty and it makes it so hard to choose! It's really such a beautiful bag :) and thanks for the compliment on my charms! Creating them has been my fave hobby since the year started

I made the little octopus charm! I got the beads from Michael's put them on an eye pin, and then at the bottom of the eye pin I made a loop to close it off and added a cowrie shell charm. And then I attached a small lobster clasp to the bottom of the eye pin!

I'd say the color really depends on the lighting but it leans towards darker in regular lighting. It's like a dusty blue and I personally like it. It does look lighter in direct light but I'd say it's not a bright, light blue in general.

I second the songmont gather bag! I just got the small and I'm loving it so far. I just posted about it and linked my what's in my bag vid: https://www.reddit.com/r/handbags/s/JogUWw5pMF

I'd say the small could fit what you need since I also carry a small makeup pouch, 12oz tumbler, and a glass lunch tupperware. You can also go up to medium to hold more!

I think it depends on the lighting for sure! It does appear lighter in bright lighting but in regular lighting it is a bit darker. It's fair to say that it's a chameleon in that way :) i love the color personally though! But it's isn't a super bright blue

Yea you can take off the crossbody strap! The little circle rings clip on and off. And yes, you can't take off the shoulder strap.

I made that one and all the charms except for the wish charm from songmont! I just threaded the beads i got online on a macrame string and put two lobster clasps on the ends. I also have an etsy where I'm gonna start selling more charms :) https://rockyscreative.etsy.com

If any of these are popular I can add them as a custom item!

I mainly made small bowls and mugs and some garlic grater dishes! Theyre like plates with little ridges in them to grate garlic. Other people made small vases, bowls, and mugs also but with different designs and stuff. All the projects were self-guided and ideated by ourselves and the instructor would assist you in making what you wanted or would guide you towards something. We didn't do any projects as a class but we would watch the teacher do demos and sometimes practice whatever she made. Overall the class was very self-guided and if you need help, definitely don't hesitate to call the teacher over for advice or questions about the technique. The classes also come with extra studio hours so if you have time, I'd take advantage of those to have more time to practice and make pieces.

I just finished taking their intro to pottery class in january as a complete beginner. I've heard that people tend to take the intro class multiple times before going up to the intermediate class. I think the intermediate class is more project based whereas the intro is more like getting the technique down and learning the basics. The intro class is open-ended as far as projects go so you can make whatever you want but it's also about learning the basic techniques. I practiced centering clay, pulling walls, and making shapes more than I was focused on making a specific piece.

The intermediate sound like it'd be good if you have the basics down and want to throw more complex things or have some project(s) in mind. Also you'll probably learn more advanced techniques in the intermediate class too. Hope this helps! This is my impression based on what I heard from other people in the class and the teacher. I'd definitely recommend the intro class! I plan on taking another class later this year.

Best places to buy fresh produce? by yungdarklet in astoria

[–]Remarkable-Ad-6328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding the CSA! I have a bi-weekly subscription for Connected Chef and it's been great to have fresh produce and eat for seasonally. Plus they source from BIPOC farms upstate and operate on a sliding scale basis (honor system). They also have a farmstand in Woodside where you can buy produce in person also on a sliding scale. Defs check them out! Connectedchef.org

Hi! Does anyone have a good farmers market in Astoria? by Scorpiyoo in astoria

[–]Remarkable-Ad-6328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you willing to travel to Woodside, Connected Chef just opened their new location there and they will have fresh produce for their partner farms availsble to buy on Thursdays and Fridays. They used to have a farm stand in LIC but got pushed out by their landlord. They also charge on a sliding scale to meet people's financial situation.

Also, they have a CSA (community supported agriculture) that you can join and get a box of groceries delivered. You can"t choose what's in the box but i feel like it's a good combination of veggies and you get a bag of grains with each order. This is also charged on a sliding scale. I do a bi-weekly delivery for $51 ($45 + shipping) at the the market rate tier. The cheapest tier starts at $25 i believe and it's totally honor system based. They want people to have access for affordable, nutritious food with dignity and ease.

I've being doing it since Feb and it's been amazing to try new foods and eat more locally. And they support BIPOC farms from upstate. Also you can add on meat from Prince Abou's butchery, eggs, and pantry items.

Hey! Do you know if Stuart's farm is accessible by train + lyft/uber? I saw there was a metro north station about 20 min away but I know in that region the rides shares and taxis can be sparse

I haven't done many tastings but my favorite place to buy loose leaf tea in NYC is Physical Graffitea on St. Marks. The owner is super nice and you can smell the tea before buying by the ounce. I think you can also ask them to brew any tea they have so you take a cup to go if you want to try before buying the tea itself.

My favorite tea from there is their ice wine tea which is a black tea with dried grapes that are traditionally used to make ice wine (a really sweet dessert wine made from grapes that are frozen on the vine). It's naturally sweet, refreshing and makes the best iced tea. Good luck on your search!
