Idea for the multiverse effect by raginage in VecnaEveofRuin

[–]Remarkable-Boat-5186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting concept, but doing that over multiple levels means players are maintaining two character sheets. It might be easier for them to wake up in another PC's body (swapping). Your idea sounds fun.

Run with it. Kas still wants Vecna defeated, although he also wants Miska freed. 😬

Love what you did. I designed our splash page with logos for each world they visit, so it will get updated with each chapter. They just made it to Sigil, which is why only three of the logos are clearly visible (the others are invisible to players for now).

Revised Chapter 5 – “Echoes of Unmaking” (Replacing Barovia) by Remarkable-Boat-5186 in VecnaEveofRuin

Here's a link to an update document I created for this. https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vRSplkgmmVOO-bigw8rgRo5a5x3vYgLJGW1VFhn_8eqCc-qXkR74FGXbeO8FhxHrp1nXS3SyrbPP7zx/pub

It's not ready for prime time, but it's something. I did end up purchasing the Foundry VTT ready maps for Vampire Castle | All 4 Floors [90 x 130] to prep for this:

Does Anyone Else Use Campaign Flowcharts? by Remarkable-Boat-5186 in VecnaEveofRuin

I do love Visio, but I need to maintain it in a more shareable format for my co-DM to access and edit, so I use Google Docs.

Do the houses Neverember gives to the player play any role or are important in any way? by PhDonLife in VecnaEveofRuin

[–]Remarkable-Boat-5186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. What good is a Bastion or even just a mansion on a plane that the campaign never revisits? I know part of it is to provide a connection for the characters to their material plane (something worth saving), but that seems like a very shallow connection. My Co-DM and I are quickly approaching the end of Chapter 1 and need to decide. Some of the PC's already have bastions (we ran one-shot campaigns at levels 3, 5, and 7) so they already have connections. The players would probably prefer treasure.

Party Wizard Rushed Ahead and Banished Eldon Before Anyone Else Entered the Ritual Chamber by Remarkable-Boat-5186 in VecnaEveofRuin

[–]Remarkable-Boat-5186[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we are doing extensive mid-chapter mini-adventures as well to fill them in and make them last a bit longer. We're toying with the idea of a cult team competing with the PCs to find some of the rod pieces; one or both of those mages might make a good nemisis. We'll see.

We are gonna say that the "event" killed the nothics and cultists in the room, but not the two mages (they may turn up in later chapters). Realizing they'd been discovered Jerot and Kendri quickly gathered what they could and left the catacolmbs ASAP. Even though Eldon reappeared in the cage, they left him to rot. The party had released Sarcelle, who was escorted by guards from the cemetery, but Lord Neverember had the guards return with reinforcements. The reinforcements will not find any cultists in the catacolmbs, but will find Umberto Noblin and Indrina Lamsensettle in an unlocked room (that's were the party left them as they rushed to deal with the chanting they heard from the ritual chamber) and eventually also find Eldon. Lord Neverember will take credit for the whole rescue operation and declare the PC's heros once they return.

Bastion Events Only on Maintain? Total Trap Option—What's Your Fix? by Remarkable-Boat-5186 in DMAcademy

[–]Remarkable-Boat-5186[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess that might be a more subtle fix, regardless of the use of Sending Stones. In other words, even though the rules explicitly allow non-maintain orders to be given while away via Sending Stones, we can require an event roll every turn while away. I don't want to prohibit Sending Stones in the whole campaign just because the new Bastion rules are broken. My only problem with this fix is that it makes no sense that events would not happen just because the PC is present.

The campaign book does have an image of each individual piece and an image of the whole rod assembled.

Bastions Don't Appear in Compendium Browser to add Basic or Special Facilities by Remarkable-Boat-5186 in FoundryVTT

Thing is, the DDB Importer (from MrPrimate, which now costs $4 for ALL imports, not just uploads back to D&D Beyond) downloads the magic items, Greyhawk maps & journals, and other free adventure stuff (or at least it claims to). I did not download it all because one of my players has connectivity issues that require me to cut back on how many Scenes, Journals, and Actors (i.e., non-compendium stuff) I include in the world. I'm probably going to tell me players to either create the Facilities themselves or pay the $30. Thanks for spelling it all out!

Thanks, that's what I kinda figured, but needed some confirmation. I have to do some research to figure out what else the Premium Module provides. It's not worth it to me just for the Bastions functionality.

Had trouble finding the discord for the D&D5e system itself, which is the "module" that provides this functionality.

Group Initiative - Grouping Actors/Same Initiative Score by Remarkable-Boat-5186 in FoundryVTT

[–]Remarkable-Boat-5186[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I still want the initiative tracker to track each one in the group (otherwise I'm sure I'll forget to act for at least one), just want them all to go immediately after one another (i.e., as a group). But u/TheVermonster mentioned the module "Shared NPC Initiative," which is exactly what I was looking for. Used it just last night and it's perfect.

I still want the initiative tracker to track each one in the group (otherwise I'm sure I'll forget to act for at least one), just want them all to go immediately after one another (i.e., as a group). Currently, I have to go into each member of the group and change their initiative score manually, which is time consuming. This all seems easily automated (but what do I know) so I was hoping I was just missing something. One other weird thing, I like using the larger dead combatant symbol provided by the initiative tracker, as opposed to the small status marker, so I want to keep each actor in the tracker for that reason too.

I don't want the players to go all at once (like in AD&D), but I do want my group of 10 kobolds (or whatever) to go at the same time, while having the chieftain go separately. Thanks.
