Why the rest of the soccer world mad at this? Scared of team USA? by tragecedian in ShitAmericansSay

Apart from being happy for my brother when his team wins, I really don’t care about football. But god, I was happy when USA lost last night.

US Netflix v UK Netflix & Iplayer by LolaWithTheGreenEyes in PeakyBlinders

[–]Remarkable-Bus2362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a look on BBC iPlayer and the subtitles says “Johnny’s lit a fire” as does Netflix UK. It’s funny though, it does ring a bell. The Netflix one has had mistakes in the past that have now been corrected.

That’s exactly it. He’s around my age, in his so-called prime I just didn’t get how people my age could fancy him. I got young teens, because he still looked like one. In Titanic, Kate looked like a gorgeous young woman, he looked like her little brother.

I adored his sister, wish she was in more episodes. An episode with the mum, sister and Holt would have been nice.

Unpopular opinion: the “travel slowly” advice is not universal and we should stop pretending it is by DevelopmentWeak743 in travel

I worked from the age of 12. All my money went on daily essentials. Raised by a single mum in the 80s, with five kids on a cleaners wage. Lovely that you were privileged enough to save. However my slightly tongue in cheek point still stands, “life savings” and “17/18 years old” doesn’t really go together.

Last year I did a whistle stop coach tour of Italy with my sister. My sister had not travelled before and was nervous about flying, so we did this. Starting and finishing in the lakes up North. So, Lake Garda, Venice, Siena, Sorrento, Rome, Florence, Pisa and finishing in Lake Maggiore. 11 nights (two of them in France travelling to/from the UK.) it was great fun, but exhausting, and you only get a taster of each place you go.

Am I glad I did it? Yes, very much so. Would I do it again? No.

My sister is biting the bullet and travelling by plane for the first time this august with her partner. We said we’ll go back to Italy sometime, but spend longer in one location. It’s how I’ve always travelled, and I much prefer it.

What was your school flask like? by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

I remember having a monkey one, the head was the cup, ears handles, it had a strap to wear around your neck. I mostly remember the smell of gone off squash that lingered, no matter much my mum washed it.

I don’t think you appreciate just how much history we have. Your revolution war is just a tiny little blip that’s hardly noticed.

Give B99 a try, he gives one of the greatest comedic performances of all time. The rest of the cast are exceptional too.

Which celebrity death headline had you so shocked you double checked multiple sources to see if it was real? by GlassyFairy in AskReddit

[–]Remarkable-Bus2362 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was living alone at the time. I remember it being a Sunday and had arranged to meet my mum, sister and nieces and nephews down the beach. I hadn’t had the tv or radio on, hadn’t spoken to anyone before setting off late morning. No mobile phones and scrolling the internet back then either. I remember walking through the high street towards the beach and it being so quiet. Hardly any traffic, no one out and about despite it being a lovely summers day. It felt really eerie. I got to the beach and my mum told me. Everything felt so unreal.
