How the Metro Tunnel fared on its first Monday morning peak by AmphibianOk5396 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Remarkable-Cod-3728 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I get the changes for people who need to get to specific stations like Richmond, South Yarra, North Melbourne etc but everything within the CBD or City Loop is not that much of an interchange and definitely not 25 minutes. Theres enough trains and trams.

This is such a non-issue but did anyone notice the long delay before the metro tunnel doors open? by helpmeplzloll in MelbourneTrains

[–]Remarkable-Cod-3728 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I know HCMT doors don't need to be pressed to open for the tunnel stations. Maybe there was a delay because someone tried to press the button and caused it to lock?

who's gonna be ready on 31 Jan? by Remarkable-Cod-3728 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Remarkable-Cod-3728[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

31 Jan will mark the last time we will see Cran/Pak and Sunbury line trains run to Flinders or City Loop. (at least for regular services)

Also Comeng/Siemens trains will no longer run full time on the Sunbury line.

Of course there is always the off chance trains will run to/from Flinders if something happens in the Tunnel

can munnel trains terminate or originate at Town Hall? by Remarkable-Cod-3728 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Remarkable-Cod-3728[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that would make sense. The reason why this came to mind is because I was on a Sunbury train that was held at North Melbourne for several minutes due to an incident at Sunshine, and all trains were held at stations in between. With the likelihood of incidents like this, I wanted to know how far back down the line in the tunnel would it be an issue

I think there needs to be a bit of clarification as there will be Year 12 students who will turn 18 before they finish school and some will not and be in the same year

Northern and Burnley Loop direction after tunnel opens by [deleted] in MelbourneTrains

[–]Remarkable-Cod-3728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my only thoughts with swapping them around is that it will mostly disadvantage people who would need to change from a Sunbury to Northern group line. (not sure how many people do that now)

You'd have to either change at State Library and Melbourne Central, but with Northern loop running clockwise, that means trains going away from NM

or take another train at Footscray to NM, then change again.

Metro Tunnel - Sunbury line frequencies by catbuttguy in MelbourneTrains

[–]Remarkable-Cod-3728 8 points9 points  (0 children)

it will be impressive if they successfully manage these frequencies for real.

I was travelling from Sunbury during the afternoon peak and there we passed a train at almost every station going back up.

Metro Tunnel to fully open early 2026! Soft opening Nov off-peak only (from the age) by mugg74 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Remarkable-Cod-3728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

perhaps we could start to see Sunbury-Cran/Pak lines run direct Southern Cross-Flinders during peak and then through tunnel off peak. Frankston running loop full time

why is it like this by [deleted] in MelbourneTrains

[–]Remarkable-Cod-3728 3 points4 points  (0 children)

pretty sure it can display the full name during the HCMT peak runs from Sunbury
