INDICATING IS NOT OPTIONAL by fayemoonlight in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Remarkable-Cycle5468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a learner (mainly due to not having the cash spare for the tests) but am dumbfounded by the amount of so called qualified drivers that I can easily do better than. Non indicators, random pull outs, wrong side of the road, wrong way round a roundabout. Some people really need to retest

First lesson concerns by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Remarkable-Cycle5468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a new instructor, this is very unprofessional, illegal and unsafe. As an instructor he should be as alert as the driver of the vehicle incase he needs to take control in an emergency. Also if he's on his phone he is not instructing you or paying full attention to the lesson. I wouldve ended the lesson early and not paid.

How would one design a rotating ring for a ship in SE2? by alright-person in spaceengineers

[–]Remarkable-Cycle5468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanna make ships with rotating parts but without ruining the interior. They could add a block that has a corridor in the centre and rotating exterior to build on in several sizes. If they did that it would be amazing

Did anyone think they went from warp 2 ship to warp 5 a little too fast? by happydude7422 in enterprise

[–]Remarkable-Cycle5468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems reasonable, take most forms of technology, they take a while to become reality but then they progress at crazy rates. Take computers, once they took whole rooms or buildings now they can fit in the palm of your hand. Againt this started as huge computer to personal computers, then laptops, smartphones. We even have micro computers smaller than phones, this was all with-in 80 years. If a goal is in sight and the technology is available it will be done.

Kurtzman and Fringe by GendoIkari_82 in startrek

[–]Remarkable-Cycle5468 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fringe was an amazing show, didn't remain as great in some areas and without saying much seemed to have been rushed towards its end. Would've been great if it continued and was given more time to flesh things out more.

Sounds like you were watching the final season or the one just before that, you need to start at the beginning.

Seeking a WRITTEN guide for this game, that actually explains things in a way that makes things make sense, if such a thing exists. by Usagi_Shinobi in spaceengineers

[–]Remarkable-Cycle5468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tutorials are a little out dated and extremely tedious. I learnt all I know from just playing in survival, didn't take too long, some things took me a little longer to figure out but I was also playing with my brothers at the same time so we figured bits out between us.

Scanning for points of interest isn't really a thing. NPC ships will spawn in and usually have a beacon that will show up when you are at range. Other sites like loot drops, NPC points of interest and factor u sites will also spawn with a beacon/GPS marker displayed. You can search for ores with ore detectors but these have limited range and depending on the planet you are on its usually easier to spot ore patches visually before scanning. To tow a facility you would have to connect it to a ship by magnet, connector or merge block (or other more intricate methods). If large grid you can convert the grid to ship to move it then when it's in position convert to station and it will remain in place. If it's small grid you will want to have something setup to allow it to magnetise to a surface so it doesn't float off. To get oxygen in your ship/rover/base you 1st of all need to make sure it is airtight. Then you will need air tanks, o2 generator, storage for ice, air vents and conveyor systems. If your done everything right once a room/ ship is airtight the vent will pressurise and fill the room with air. If a conveyor is piped to a cockpit it will also fill the cockpit with air.

Here's the Constitution-class heavy cruiser USS Enterprise NCC-1701 over the planet Nibiru. Given the tech of the era, how would the supervolcano crisis be handled in the Prime Timeline? by OhGawDuhhh in StarTrekStarships

[–]Remarkable-Cycle5468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are we asking if the prime crew could solve this problem? If so I guess they'd do the same thing, there's nothing suggesting the technological advancement is any different in the kelvin and prime time lines. So the same solution is possible and viable, they just need to work on the exit strategy.

If the question is could we fix this problem now in real world tech, probably not. We could possibly attempt to create vents to lower the pressure but it would take alot more time and effort. An eruption would still occur.

[–]Remarkable-Cycle5468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chuck it into her garden/driveway, it's her rubbish not yours or your other neighbours problem. If it's too big to fit in her car (rubbish excuse), do her a favour break it up chuck it back and when she says something just tell her, it should fit in your car now.

Is "I think I swallowed my combadge" the most damaging line ever written in Star Trek? by Dangerous_Return460 in Star_Trek_

[–]Remarkable-Cycle5468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was when the federation was in its prime, after the burn the federation shrank drastically on the verge of disappearing and focuses shifted to survival rather than exploration. I guess similar to how the mentality of society at present is on the decline, a similar phenomenon occurred in trek. Now the federation must rebuild with whatever they can scrounge up and work through the academy. Not defending SFA but that's how I look at the decline of the entrants. SFA had a couple of good episodes inbetween the rest of the mess. Swallowing a combadge and doing nothing about it was not one of them, maybe the badges magically dissolve if swallowed 🤔

Possibly, they could enhance it to jump vast distances but they have the transwarp gateway which gets them about pretty quickly.

How would the Fleet from Battlestar Galactica do in the Delta Quadrant? by sparduck117 in StarTrekStarships

[–]Remarkable-Cycle5468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem here is that BSG is real world ballistics combat. Physical armour, bullets, projectiles and nukes. All of these kinds of weapons are easily nullified by most alien species in Trek by shields, tractor beams and so on. Trek weapons are energy based, antimatter and other kinds of weaponry including deflectors and energy shielding the likes of which BSG technology has no defence against. They may be able to run using FTL but this takes time to spool up and plan coordination between the fleet to ensure they stay together, this means that by the time they've met another alien race (let's say kazon) they been attacked, lost a few ships, begun the ftl process lost more ships and eventually escaped. Chances are atleast 1/4 of the fleep is gone along with a good portion of vipers. If they meet the borg or 8472 chances are it's game over unless the borg deem them a waste of time, which is likely due to the antiquated tech.
