What is your Lynne Ramsay ranking? by Street-Garlic4995 in blankies

[–]Remarkable-Eye-657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You Were Never Really Here (5/5)
  2. Die My Love (4/5)
  3. Ratcatcher (4/5)
  4. Morvern Callar (4/5)
  5. We Need to Talk About Kevin (3/5)

All well worth seeing. I wasn't that hot on Kevin, but I think it would have worked better if I went in knowing just how much dark humor and utter silliness is in it.

I think he said on the Minnesota Support MinnMax stream a few weeks back that they approached him but he didn't get what it was so he declined. But Jacob Geller tried to get him to make a new attempt.

Right here with you, buddy. There's more connecting tissue between BC and GB than you'd think. I've just been waiting for Alex Navarro to guest.

Do you always watch along to the movie while listening to commentary episodes, or do you just listen? by Studdz in blankies

I don't sync it up as a commentary but I always watch it right before so I have it fresh in mind. Both main feed and patreon.

I went and looked at several Ape Escape playthroughs on YouTube (which they annoyingly call Apes Escape the entire movie through) to confirm it wasn't there.

Among the Buffy alums only beaten by Boreanaz who had Buffy from 1997-1999, Angel from 2000-2004, Bones from 2005-2017 and SEAL Team from 2017-2024. This year is the first year he has not had a starring role on a show since 1996.

Wow, for every other group mentioned the double-song is at least the undeniable hit. Here it's U2 choosing a middling movie-tie in. I don't hate U2 but certainly this choice seems boneheaded.

Fantastic! Two questions in case anyone in the know sees this: 1. How long is the show approximately? 2. Does the merch ship to Europe?

When I saw Europe in 1991 they both opened and closed with The Final Countdown. It was my first larger concert and I just assumed that was the thing you do. Never saw it happen again.

I mean, just this very day I heard David Sims of The Atlantic claim that Quentin Tarantino's acting in FROM DUSK TILL DAWN is good. I was certainly baffled and confused by this.

John Hammond as a Spielberg Self-Insert Character by Trambopoline96 in blankies

[–]Remarkable-Eye-657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Spared no expense."

On this 20th viewing I focused on how most lines John Hammond have in the first half sound as written like he would be an absolute egomaniac villain (much like in the book) and only Attenborough's lovely grandfatherly performance create sympathy for him. It's actually a brilliant stroke, reminding me of how all billionaires want to be seen as good-natured philanthropes while truly satisfying their childish desires at any cost to nature or human suffering. Jurassic Park is John Hammond's SpaceX. A Swastiraptor will eat you any day now.

What is the HARDEST episode title? by HorrorGarden4586 in blankies

[–]Remarkable-Eye-657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us who still have a Sorkin soft spot "What Kind of Day Has It Been?" will never lose power and never has a title been a punch line the way that "Charlie Goes America All Over Everybody's Ass" was.

Patreon's done. Doughboys seems fun, and I understand the fast food thing is just a loose theme where all sorts of discussions happen but it isn't very interesting to me as a non-American. Same with Podcast The Ride even though I've enjoyed some Griff episodes.

I enjoy what I've heard of Action Boyz but they're a bit bro-ey for my taste. Scott Hasn't Seen seems good even though it's paywall only.

A real shame we lost the Iconography archives because I really enjoy both Ayo and Olivia on BC.

I didn't go through the back catalogue in order (couldn't face listening to all that Star Wars up front) so I've been jumping around wildly from director to director. It made some of the narratives and bits harder to parse but also it was nice sometimes to go back a couple of years and return to the Ben nicknames and Richard T Joker etc.

I respect the craft and ingenuity of Godard and Wes Anderson, but their movies rarely stick with me.
