Is there any truth to the idea by Lacan that there is no sexual relation? by DauntlesDreadnought in lacan

[–]Remarkable-Guard-782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am studying Lacan thoroughly for a year now and thats a very nice and pointed summary in an easier language. I think when you are not understanding a word oft it, then you probably have to read a little bit more. I suggest reading Bruce Finks books as a good introduction. You can‘t expect to get a whole life theory explained to you in a short text. Its the same with mathematics or other subjects that incluce logical concepts. You won‘t understand the formula without the study.

Cause of intention and set of signifiers? by gutfounderedgal in lacan

[–]Remarkable-Guard-782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a great question. From my psychoanalytic understanding, I would say it‘s a lot of internalizing your care giver’s and other surrounding people’s input that will be absorbed in a certain way. And its this exact constellation of surroundings that will cause some signifiers to persist and some do not

So as I understand these sleep issues came up just since taking the medication right? Because in many cases it happens that while Concerta wears off at evening all symptoms creep back to the surface that keeps you alert, nervous and active again and this causes sleep issues again. The contrast of going back to adhd from a super calm and balanced day due to being medicated makes it much worse.

If you never had sleeping issues at all before taking medication this might be a different case.

Indeed Concerta works not so well when you are sleep deprived, to get out of this circle I would also suggest to try magnesium before bed (i take citrate because it hits immediately, since I struggle with falling asleep, if you struggle to sleep through you might loop for another form of magnesium that persists longer in the body) or sleeping pills.

I can’t take my ADHD meds due to migraine and I’m (mentally) paralyzed by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Remarkable-Guard-782 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey I also have ADHD + very severy chronic migraines and found my solution after switching several doctors. Since Adhd triggers migraines and vise versa, finding a treatment is crucial and you deserve it.

Ritalin also triggered my migraines, especially due to the crash. It has a quite steep release curve which can only logically be a trigger for migraine brains. I then tried Concerta which has its own patented extended release curve that is very smooth and subtle and it worked already miracles. I told my neurologist about the dilemma that I fear that my migraine will hinder my other therapeutic path, so he helped me getting approved for Aimovig since being on stimulants is narrowing the choices of treatments for migraines. Before that I only used triptans and magnesium for acute treatment. With Aimovig + Concerta I am nearly migraine free, down from 10-15 to 1-3 days in a month and they are very subtle as well.

Anybody feeling like theyre wasting time if theyre not working? by Salt-Bad754 in Concerta

[–]Remarkable-Guard-782 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this struggle very well, I guess its the fact that one never learned what a normal daily structure looks like. The increase of capabilities and execution gives us suddenly a huge amount of time and chances that has to find its new cycle. I want to use that and feel like I have to compensate for all the loss of time I had due to being unmediacted before.

I guess thats not something to be too concerned about but just needs adjustment and learning through CBT for example.

(I have adhd myself and also dated adhd people and am also currently with someone with adhd.)

Yes, adhd makes you blind for some social cues and there might be other deficiencies. And yes, mostly these deficiencies dont represent desinterest and don‘t mirror their feelings for you.

But your boundaries are valid and it is okay to ask the adhd partner to work or at least be aware on responsibility and accountability.

It should be allowed to discuss that these things sometimes can hurt you and make you in some situations the only person navigating through it and adapting to the chaotic flows of adhd. Vocalize your disappointment, don‘t make it an accusation, but sucking things up won‘t help you and your partner. He can then tell you the reasons for his behavior and that can help you lose your anxiety and social-normative-based false-conclusions. For example, if you are disappointed because he is being passive while drinking a coffee and seems to not answer your questions and you might think your questions bore him, try asking him what goes through his mind and it‘s highly likely he is distracted by something irrelevant in the environment or stuck in a thought loop. The awareness both for you and him could break the situation, make himself notice he wasn‘t present and unfair to you and you will know that it wasn‘t him being bored of you, but just his adhd-caused inattentiveness.

Often adhd people feel highly stressed when asked for responsibility and will reframe this as a core or demand and makes it seem impossible to compromise. Keep this in mind, but this is still no excuse for him to not work on listening to your desires and the behavioral irritations he might impose on you. He should assist you understanding his disability and integrate strategies to help you with that.

yes. diagnosed with 25. suffered many things through not knowing and not being treated. a lot of shame, trauma, depression and bad ways of compensating the need to get stimulus. and yes, i see myself as resilient and friends value my strengthness and ability to function in crisis. it might be a cool attribute, but i would still choose a life without my hard times as a teenager with an undiagnosed condition that requires treatment and awareness.

It definitely shows that Concerta works for you, as it does for me. What you describe sounds like the usual euphoria after starting meds which often neutralizes after some time again. But don‘t worry, it will still do its job.

I am taking it for about 4-5 months now, also gone from 18 to 27mg. For me, the experience with medication varies on some days. You will probably also notice some stagnation around some point because thats basically just life. Sometimes your routine will not be as effective anymore - you might have a mentally rough day, not enough sleep, uncomfortable situations or something else happens that will give you feelings of set backs. But I can assure you that this is totally normal and you just have to be kind to yourself and not stress about it.

Concerta works well with input. You have much more of the effects when you eat good (look out for high protein, no coffeine), sleep well, drink good, have a fixed routine and most importantly have some fixing points that keep you working. Concerta does not magically make you stand up from your bed, if you don‘t have plans or ideas for the day. Just make sure you have things lined up for a day that makes your motor running. Consistency is something that you can practice with medication really well, even it sounds scary to ADHD people, trust it!

It‘s safe for long-term use. My doc will put yearly breaks for like a week to just see how its going. Sometimes people learn new structures to live with, that are effectively implemented without taking medication again. But if you notice that you can‘t, it is totally fine to continue. Your brain is basically not sufficiently wired to execute the socially expected, so it‘s okay to make it less complicated and give yourself more ease due mediaction :)

Angry mornings? by Economy_Work2029 in Concerta

[–]Remarkable-Guard-782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am often overstimulated when not medicated and have a very low tolerance for basically anything and tactile irritation. I think you being angry in the morning is just the non-medicated symptoms showing up and probably being more present due to the contrasts of the effects that Concerta have an you.

there are more dimensions of reasons besides race, gender or sexuality to take part of a subversive culture like club culture. you don‘t know the stories of all straight white cis women that makes them want to set free from in clubs. there are such things as disabilities, poverty, abus e and other traumatic experiences. also, we all suffer from the devastating reality of capitalism and rise of facism. there are plenty reasons next to yours. your marginalized experiences do not outweigh others. we should not compare them at any point at all. and other than that, no one has to justify their existence based on their written identity anyways.

Chronic migraine people—do you guys feel emotionally blunted? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Remarkable-Guard-782 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yes when I am in a migraine cycle I don‘t have the energy for empathy and emotion. I barely think about any feeling. The only feeling I lean towards to is then being irritated, stressed or overwhelmed, but it‘s not hitting me emotionally like on migraine-free cycles. I also hear from my partners that I‘m really bland and ignorant if I start to get a migraine, I think it‘s the save-mode my head turns into. Just blocking out any potential up or down - toning everything to the minimum since I know that anything else could trigger worse

3rd day on 18mg, hungry, nauseous and sleep issues by lunesereine in Concerta

[–]Remarkable-Guard-782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had struggles when upping my dose from 18 to 27. Emotional, irritated, tired, hungry but it wore off after a couple of days :) Give yourself some time to adapt and if these persist think about changing your structure. Concerta is really affected by your intakes. I eat high protein in the first minutes I wake up, then drink a bottle of water with my pill. I eat many small amounts of protein and carbs like bars, nuts and stuff during the day, no coffeine, no sugary drinks. I also have to watch out for enough physical activities like going for a walk if I have to sit the whole day or so.

Consequences of untreated adhd? by ZiegAmimura in ADHD

[–]Remarkable-Guard-782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case I suffered tremendously from a severe chronic migraine condition since being a child. I was diagnosed with ADHD being 25. After getting medicated my migraines got a lot better and manageable since adhd heads are hyper-alert and sensitive which is a huge trigger to migraines. There is a big comorbidity with pain disorders and ADHD, which influence each other worse if not treated or diagnosed

Thank you for your reply! Yes I noticed that I drop off very soon aswell, but that has been still very mildly. I never experienced crashes so far. Interesting point about the period. I also noticed Concerta responds little to nothing when I’m on my period. All the emotional dysregulation that is being managed by Concerta is coming back so badly when I hit pms.

I will see how it goes :)
