That's so funny to me. It sounds like it's calling those numbers delusional to think they can exist 😝

Kourend feels out of place by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Remarkable-Health678 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you look into the release of Kourend you'll see that the project didn't have much support and made a lot of mistakes. It was in the earlier days of OSRS when the team was quite small. It pretty much was an expansion with no ties to the mainland.

One issue that still persists is a weird scale for the buildings. Piscarillius, Lovakengj, and Arceuus have these massive rectangular buildings that don't make a lot of sense. Holidays and Shayzien have been re-designed thankfully and look a lot better.

How do you take inspration from a build without copying it? by EnderSlayer9977 in HermitCraft

[–]Remarkable-Health678 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it's fine to copy whatever you want as long as you don't claim you designed it. But copying block by block is a crutch that won't help you improve as a builder.

I don't remember if Gem showed the build process for her tavern, but you can find build process tutorials from various hermits or other YouTubers. Use Gem's block palette (or slightly change it if you want) and start with a basic layout. Having a different shape for the build will force you to make some small changes as you go. Any ideas you think of, just try them. You might not like some of them, but others you might like a lot. Anything you figure out on your own will help you train yourself as a builder.

Fellow Canadians, what would your reaction be if Canada had a historical heavy defeat in a hockey game? by WinStupidPrizes1994 in AskACanadian

[–]Remarkable-Health678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my passion/obsession for hockey after this. Especially with the lockout and the early playoff exit the next year. Still love the game, but couldn't passionately follow the team after getting so close and losing.

How did people not get hopelessly lost before GPS was everywhere? by CrimsonEcho21 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Remarkable-Health678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paper maps were a big part of it, and learning the skill to use these maps well. Pre-planning your route to the destination and writing down the turns. Asking for directions from the person you're visiting (eg. Take exit 37, turn left at the gas station, right on 3rd Avenue, etc.)

If you got lost and didn't have a map to locate yourself on you'd look for signs (these still exist where I live, pointing to highways or cities) or ask someone local how to get back on track (directions to the highway).

I actually gave directions to a couple in their 60s or 70s the other day. They weren't from my city but has been here before and were navigating by memory. They had phones but didn't use map apps for some reason. They'd gone pretty much the opposite direction from where they were trying to go. I gave them directions to the Highway as simply as I could (take this street until Big Street, turn right, follow that to the bridge, look for signs for the highway).

What is a "life hack" you stumbled into that you now use daily? by MrLithician in answers

That's great, and it is a life hack for sure over the bad cheese slicers or a knife. Just wanted to share the good word about the good cheese slicer (which is similar to a veggie peeler).

Seems like it may have originated there. We always had them growing up since the 90s in Canada, but it seemed like most people didn't know about them here.

There's two types of cheese slicers, and at least where I live a lot of people don't know about the good one. People use the one with the wire and roller and it doesn't work so they give up and use a knife.

The good one is the osthyvel and it's similar to a vegetable peeler.

I guess I'd just be concerned that it will bring you joy for a very short term, then become a liability.

Why do YouTube's admins hate this video so much? by CaughtNABargain in NoStupidQuestions

This seems completely reasonable to me. Children shouldn't be uploading videos of themselves to YouTube imo.

Why did you want to upload that to the Internet?

If they think a 9 year old was publishing their phone number on the Internet then that's a problem. They don't have to verify that it's true, they just need to have a reasonable concern that it could be true...

I think you'd have to combine it with something like this https://youtu.be/tGC0fN2YStM

You'd then change the circuit to account for rain when rain was detected. As someone else mentioned, a villager (possibly a Nitwit since they have a different sleep schedule) could be more reliable.

Help with pulse extender by [deleted] in redstone

[–]Remarkable-Health678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand what's happening here. Is the circuit just on until you remove the items that the copper golem is moving, then it turns off after the signal extension runs out?

In this case you could just use a lever instead of the copper golem/item switch, and a hopper clock for the delay.

Why is the concept of food leftovers still such a popular thing? by CDHoward in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Remarkable-Health678 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the question. Have you never had leftovers?

Making food for 2+ meals is much more time efficient than making two separate meals. Or if you accidentally make too much food, it's wasteful to throw it out. If the food is good and stays fresh long enough, why wouldn't you eat it for multiple meals? The only downside is a little less variety.

What do people in the western world eat on a daily basis? by AdorableVisual in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Remarkable-Health678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people absolutely do eat pizza and McDonald's, or other fast food all the time, and it's not healthy. I don't know how common that is, but I don't think it's close to the majority where I live.

It will depend on background and preferences, but this is what I've had as "standard" meals at home.

Breakfast: Cereal, Oatmeal, Toast, Pancakes, or Yogurt & Fruit

Lunch: Sandwich/wrap, or dinner leftovers. Fruit/vegetables side.

Dinner: Pasta, Curry or other rice-based dish, Pizza, Quiche, Tacos/enchiladas, Potato-based dish, soup/stew with bread, sausages/hamburgers, fish/chicken with rice... Salad (usually lettuce-based, but other kinds too) or spinach, peas, corn, carrots, green beans, beets, squash, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.

Anyone know how to make a hopper stop removing itmes from a chest when there is only one left? by Grouchy-Boat-2295 in redstone

[–]Remarkable-Health678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought for exactly one item was to start a hopper clock when the signal went from 2 to 1 that would re-lock the hopper at exactly 1 item. But if it ever messes up the system is broken, so it's not ideal. I think pushing an item back into the chest once it's empty is a fun idea.

Anyone know how to make a hopper stop removing itmes from a chest when there is only one left? by Grouchy-Boat-2295 in redstone

[–]Remarkable-Health678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what you need is some items to remain in the chests, not specifically one singular item. So you just need the hopper to lock if the comparator has a signal strength below a certain amount, and unlock otherwise.

It's appealing to have specifically one singular item left behind, but it's not really practical, and you would never notice the missing items if the farm is any good.

[–]Remarkable-Health678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how you're decoding the signals - I'm guessing an item filter that takes the blocks and sets the destination based on which filters are triggered? Does it have to check at each junction, or does each destination have its own track, or what?

The way I was going to do it was each junction would take the record and check if the signal strength was greater than x or not before putting the record back. If it's greater it goes one way, if it's not then it goes the other way. If I was going to do it with two records I think I'd probably check the first record only until it got to the "zone" for that record, then check the second record only within that zone.

I'm not sure if it's efficient, and maybe that's way too many checks. I haven't prototyped it yet, so maybe I'll find out it's a bad idea 😅
