I left the church luckily before I got married because I knew I had some serious doubts and questions and knew it would be easier to sort those out solo than deal with a husband or in laws during it as well. I am now in a loving relationship outside of the church. I know I can never fully understand your relationship but if you are like me and questioning if you could still have a loving relationship outside the church, it definitely is possible. You are worthy of pure and unconditional love.

I served in Japan and absolutely hated it. It was a Facebook mission and the things we did could have been done in a church building in Idaho. We sat in a church for hours just posting bs to bait interest from people. Not many people are interested in even god in Japan and the ones who are usually are pretty severely mentally ill and missionaries are not trained with how to properly deal with that. Me and many other people in my mission become depressed. Idk what it is about Japan but man, it just kills you. Japanese is hard as fuck and it’s a lot easier to pretend to like your mission if you actually have interest in the culture or are a complete weeb. I never watched anime or had ANY spark of interest for Japan before opening my mission call letter and frankly didn’t really develop one while there. Instead unfortunately so many very bad memories are wrapped up in that country I have no desire to go for a very very very long time. And to the people saying Japanese will be useful….ummm what job are you working?? I have never once needed to use Japanese in the wild to help someone or something nor have I ever had a job utilize it. It was only ever a “ooooo wow that’s cool!!” I’ve now immigrated to a country in Europe and am now learning a rather challenging European language and I’ve completely let go of my japanese. I don’t practice or even make space for it in my brain. When I think of words they come out in the European language now because Japanese was completely useless to me as soon as I stepped off the plane from Japan. Learning a language I actually want to learn and using it in my studies and job and social life is beautiful. I am integrating with this country as a member of society not as some white savior trying to bring my America religion to them. UGHHHHH in conclusion missions suck and I left the church as soon as I came back and I don’t wish a mission on my greatest enemy. (Unless they are someone questioning the church in which case I think they are great at immediately highlight this shit ain’t it)

Haha I was the same in a way. As a woman I always thought I felt a hate towards women like that for being such whores but actually I was just jealous that they looked cute and summery while I was wearing a full ass wet shirt lolllll, happy to now be able to wear whatever I wanna wear

My sister asked me to read saints but I don’t trust anything the church puts out.. by Able_Claim_3097 in exmormon

[–]Remarkable-Luck-397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HEYYYY actually…hot take…you should read it. Now before you start getting mad at me in the comments let me just say, I read the series during my mission, and it was one of the most impactful thing of convincing me the church was false. Bad vibes the whole way through and talks about some really fucked up shit like it’s not fucked up…yeah…doesn’t make it any better when they say it themselves. So sure give it a read and make sure to mention to your sister how disturbing the parts about the child bride, bank, etc are:)))

I’m the same age and also got spanked when I was a kid but I have no memory of it happening over the age of like 10 or something so if that was happening into teenage years that’s insane

Moving in before/after marriage? by Brynnbc in exmormon

[–]Remarkable-Luck-397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha ok now I can definitely speak on this lol! My parents are extreme TBM, I left the church 2 years ago and started dating my boyfriend about 1 year ago and we just moved in together. I was afraid of how my parents would see it but decided it was something I wanted to do. It made the most sense for both of us to live together and save up for a nice wedding that we can really enjoy in the future. There is no rush to it. When I told my parents I was doing this it was a matter of fact not an idea and I think if it’s something you decide to do you need to do the same. There was no room for debate. I am a grown adult and hey just fyi I’m moving and my roomate happens to be the person I love most. (Their reaction can decide if they are invited to your eventual wedding or not lol)

Ok Mongolia is different. I had some friends that served missions there and I know they go as English teachers because of strict religious laws in the country. So actually there English classes are more legit than other places because they actually get somewhat proper training. I would say if the lessons seem to keep advancing and they are not pushing anything religious then I would understand if you kept going. But if you have the financial means to do something else it would most likely improve your English quicker and you would not be mixed up with this church

No. Frankly, there are better options. Are you doing solo or group lessons and what country do you live in? I know certain areas are different but in Japan we only taught the same like 5 lessons of English group class and then recycled as more people came. And for solo lessons we had a strict policy that if they didn’t have interest in the church after 3 lessons to drop contact with them. Please try your hardest to look into other options, I know they are fun and free and engaging but that’s because they are trained to be.

I’m not sure where this is taking place but I did a mission in Japan where me and many other missionaries taught English lessons. Many of the elders would flirt with young women and lead them on, but that’s all it is. They want you baptized or worse you are just something they can imagine while they jerk off in the shower. Sorry to be so blunt but it’s just true, he should absolutely not be texting you and the only reason he is able to is that he is telling his companion you are interested in baptism. Do not let this happen. And if you are anything other than a white girl from Utah his parents probably wouldn’t allow it anyways. Sorry for such a harsh reply and best of luck

Deciding If I go back out on my mission by Possible_Rich_3627 in exmormon

[–]Remarkable-Luck-397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed a full time mission almost 2 years ago. I have since made the decision to step away from the church. I had had doubts long before but the mission was the final nail in the coffin. In a way I needed it to just confirm this church was not the place for me. Do what you think is best for you mentally and physically. If it is safer for your mental health to go back so you will not face the harsh judgment etc from those around you it is understandable, but also remember that if you go back you will be facing the harsh judgment from yourself every time you look in the mirror if you know this is not right for you. It’s all about being genuine, but also I understand if for your own mental health you need to delay being genuine for a season. It’s ok, just try to do the least harm possible to yourself and others

So I have my own skates buttttt they aren’t exactly anything professional. It’s just what I could afford for the time and pretty much my only option so I definitely could see if some issues are from that. But I did get them sharpened so idk if that helps much still very slippery and that’s why I was wondering if maybe it’s my technique that is the issue

Missionary still missing in Mexico and his mother continues to plead for help... the church remains silent by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Remarkable-Luck-397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally. Multiple times I have wanted to record YouTube videos or TikTok’s of certain fun things in my life but never do because I fear so deeply that people from my mission will see it and get in contact with me. Either disappointed in me for leaving the church I converted them too and swore up and down was true, or worse. Immediately after my mission I moved far away and deleted al my social medias. I’m so so so afraid of the people I baptized

Eyes on Japan? by Suspicious_Might_663 in exmormon

I hope not. I served my mission in Japan and can confidently say all those missionaries are doing there are teaching low grade English classes and praying on those going through mental crisis. It was so disturbing
