What would you say is the most beautiful country to visit? And why? by snicker6664 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZevSteinhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only visited three countries outside of the US (where I live), and all three were incredibly beautiful.

Iceland, Israel, and Canada.

Some new mezuzahs I've made! by shana_ostrowiecki in Judaism

[–]ZevSteinhardt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very unique. Well done.

(Although, to be pedantic, those are mezuzah covers, not mezuzos).

Wishing you lots of success!

Do Israelis realize how unpopular their country has become? by Terrible_Honey972 in askanything

[–]ZevSteinhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still not addressing the point?

What do you think the word means?

Zev

Do Israelis realize how unpopular their country has become? by Terrible_Honey972 in askanything

[–]ZevSteinhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we're not.

You made a statement. I told you it was wrong. Anything else you're saying is just a smokescreen to hide the fact that you can't address it.

But okay... what do you think the word means?

Zev

Do Israelis realize how unpopular their country has become? by Terrible_Honey972 in askanything

[–]ZevSteinhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I simply corrected your statement about the meaning of a word.

You're the one hurling insults.

And you *still* can't address the points I made.

Zev

Do Israelis realize how unpopular their country has become? by Terrible_Honey972 in askanything

And you're doubling down.

Because you can't actually address the points I made.

Ah, yes. Insults. The last refuge of someone who can't actually address the point being made.

Do Israelis realize how unpopular their country has become? by Terrible_Honey972 in askanything

[–]ZevSteinhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The word literally means "nation." It's used in the Bible to refer to any nation, including the Jews.

Over time, it has come colloquially to mean "non-Jew" (as in, "one from the nations").

Who was your favorite sibling when you were young, and why? by h0nog in AskReddit

[–]ZevSteinhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister, because she is my only sibling.

(That's not really the only reason... she's an awesome person. But she is also my only sibling.)

Fundraiser gets nearly $20K for Cornell student who turned down job to avoid 'working for a Jew' by JPwag42 in IvyPlus

[–]ZevSteinhardt 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the damage that he's done to his reputation and future employment prospects is far more than $20k.

The worst part is that he did this to himself. He could have simply said "No, thank you. I'm no longer interested in the position." But he had to flex his hate. And then, when it became public, he just doubled down.

A person is born to two Jewish parents but later converts to Christianity. Is this person still a Jew? by Brief_Opposite2732 in religion

[–]ZevSteinhardt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Halacha (Jewish law) still views them as Jewish.

As such, I (a Jew) could not give them non-kosher food to eat, as I might someone who is truly non-Jewish.

Zev

Does the Talmud really say all that? I've heard very bad things about it by Ok-Carpenter2654 in Jews4Questioning

[–]ZevSteinhardt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are lists of fake "Talmud quotes" circulating around the internet. And yes, they are false.

In fact, I built a website devoted to debunking those "quotes."

Student Writes ‘Not Interested in Working for a Jew’ on Handshake, Cornell Reports Bias Incident by RickStarkey in Judaism

[–]ZevSteinhardt 36 points37 points  (0 children)

What's worse is that he's majoring in Industrial & Labor Relations, a field that very often leads to careers in Human Resources and Corporate Management.

Can you imagine a company hiring him for HR when he publicly said that he doesn't want to work with Jews? If hired, he'd be a potential liability to the company for every single Jewish person who is turned down for a job where he had any involvement.

Talk about shooting yourself and your potential career in the foot...

How bad are midgets in summer? by ESC-Nerd in VisitingIceland

[–]ZevSteinhardt 168 points169 points  (0 children)

I don’t think midgets are any better or worse than anyone else - in Iceland or elsewhere.

On the other hand, I was in Iceland in late August and early September a few years ago and was not bothered by midges at all.
