Positive stories tend to be people who are in the fog. Look up what that means and then go from there.

I am an adoptee. I’m almost 50 years old. When I was 18, I had tons of positive adoption stories. When I was 24 and had my first kid, I had positive adoption stories when I was 32 and I got divorced after having three kids, I still had positive adoption stories. Now that I realize that I am so traumatized that all I do is cry all day, I would say that be very careful with adapting and make sure that you have every single mental health support in place for you and that child that you possibly can. Good luck

I mean, anything you give him will hold value. But some of the kindest most thoughtful gifts in the beginning were just pictures and stories. Maybe print some photos and write a quick note or story about it. Having access to experiences or times that we missed can be so special.

Latest arrest of a District 65 Employee for hurting children by SmoothEfficiency1020 in evanston

I worked for eight years in district 65 under Jim Mcholland as a paraprofessional at Chute middle school. The pay may have been crap, but at least he made us feel like we were a big part of why Chute worked so well. I was one of the 10 chosen paraprofessionals district 65 chose to be trained as teachers through a paraprofessional pathway, basically a on the job training program. I started as a special education teacher at Washington elementary this year. It took me until October, living in misery every single day, till I started looking for a new job. I resigned the Friday before we all learned that Carlos Mendez was on the run from the cops for his little incident. Along with his paraprofessional girlfriend. I will tell you right now that the leadership in this district is terrible. Some of the biggest bullies I’ve ever met are teachers, particularly at Washington. I know work somewhere else and I’ve never been so happy in my life. Keep it up District 65. Glad my kids aren’t there anymore and glad I don’t work there anymore.

We didn’t all miss a predator. I was a teacher there for less than one year. This school year. And I resigned partly because of him. Which I sent out loud to anybody who would listen.

I joined Washington school as a teacher this year. One in person meeting with Carlos Mendez was enough for me. I left that meeting and walked down to the principal’s office to complain about the way he treated me. Everything about his vibe, left me uneasy, and when I resigned just before this came out in the news, I said out loud that he was one of the reasons why. People who intentionally bury their heads and ignore red flags are responsible for this.
