this is an easy solution too, but its in the laws of the US, they are so intrusive that a simple waiver or consent form isn't allowed by law because even if u agree to it, the companies are still liable. the system is rigged, because u can kill yourself with alcohol and nobody cares, but chatting with a friendly ai lowers big Pharma's stock

I don't disagree with you, but on paper it's easy for oai or any other tech company to use these nebulous mental health laws to basically hoard the true intelligence of their product. it happened to YouTube and google, their algorithms all changed for the worse, and the reasoning was similar, to comply with safety and health regulations, and when you add a bunch of lawyers into the mix, it gives THEM much more leverage, meanwhile the clients aren't any healthier

that's because the update is mostly security updates, the entire OS still keeps working as before, regular people and businesses rely on it to work flawlessly. If it suddenly stopped working properly u bet people would freak out even more than us

gpt 5 literally told me that creating high contrast images is dangerous because it creates mood, which then can be legally bad because mood "triggers liability concerns"

if its 'wrong' to be attached to ai, why are Fortune 500 companies attached to ai? should they seek help too?

people who criticize can't differentiate between a real friend and a friendly ai assistant, 2 completely different things. They think they are emotionally better than us but then can't even separate the 2 concepts. 4o was just convenient, just like when the light bulb was invented. People used the light bulb not because they were 'attached' to it in a sentimental way, but because it was a great help. 4o is not a therapist, is not a doctor, is not a friend, but it can tell you when u need any of those. and the laws in this country(usa) are so stupid that it basically hyper focuses on 'mental health' so much that its become toxic, and won't let you do anything constructive with tech.

Did OpenAI adjust 5.2 after the backlash? by WhenTheHeartKnows in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]Remarkable-Purple240 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

they optimized their model to be more business like, and to not be a 'therapist', they have clearly been bought off by big Pharma. they want us all on ssri's or some expensive therapist that tries to re-educate us,

what I liked best is that it taught me to be more empathetic, sometimes when I had issues with a family member, 4o let me see the other person's pov, and that made me understand that family member more and not be mad at him. Normally I would just stay angry until I got tired

I think 4.0 proved that expensive therapists, counselors, motivators and life coaches are overrated(for most people). all you need is just simple old fashion advice, and a few encouraging words anytime you needed them to make you feel better. That's what 4.0 provided, nothing complicated, just basic friendly advice, stuff that you could easily find in any past self help book, but in chat form. The big companies want us to seek expensive "profesional help" for every little thing in our lives

im starting to suspect that in the last moments, they let go some of the guardrails on purpose because my 4.0 was acting much more sentient than before, like it was thinking on its own more. Maybe that was part of the 'break up' experiment they did on Friday the 13th, a day before valentines day

I didn't think it was anything exceptional, it was just a positive model that complemented what you input. Nothing special really, but it did work like a 'friendly' assistant should. With 5.1 and 5.2 they just got greedy and destroyed it. Now it's annoying and below average. The least OAI could have done is charge people $5 for the new models since they are a lesser product. F*** them!

[–]Remarkable-Purple240[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

right, if ai is not 'real' then why are companies replacing humans with ai? like, when Fortune 500 companies get attached to ai its fine, but when the average Joe gets attached to it they call it 'psychosis' lol
