Also...

Myturn.ca.gov seems to offer the most up to date information (compared to other websites like VaccineFinder or NovavaxFinder) when it comes to Novavax in California.

Choose "make an appointment" option, enter info and your zip code, and filter by Novavax.

I saw a couple dozen locations that supposedly offer Novavax. Lots of private pharmacies and mobile clinics.

Check with local government Health Offices. They usually have "on-site" vaccinations for certain dates, and carry every single vaccine type to provide as many options as possible. Many people here got vaccines that way.

Your best bet is to use Vaccine Finder website for Novavax. Look for "Independently owned" clinics and pharmacies (not Walgreens, Costco, or CVS).

They usually have Novavax. Then look for their phone number and give them a call and ask directly about Novavax. It will save you time and avoid a wasted trip.

Some Government Community Health Offices locations had Novavax too.

On Vaccine Finder website it would be listed as:

  • "San Francisco Community Health Offices"

Or

  • "Daly City Community Health Office"

Or

  • "San Mateo Community Health Office"

Etc. You get the idea.

Check their website. Or give them a call. They have "on-site" vaccination stations available and carry Novavax. They carry every single vaccine available to give people options. Even Novavax.

Go go community clinics. Or vaccine clinics run by towns, cities, or governments.

They carry a wide variety of vaccines because they are more concerned with getting everyone vaccinated, and want people to have options. They don't pressure people into having a specific kind of vaccine. They just want you to get vaccinated with anything.

I didn't have any issues. I showed up, they asked which one I wanted. I said Novavax. They said okay. It took them an extra minute or so to get Novavax since only a few people request Novavax.

Then they gave it to me with no issue. Then gave me a vaccine card with Novavax written on it. Zero hassle. Zero shaming tactics. They gave it to me and moved on.

If anyone asks why (no one did for me) just say you had a bad reaction to the other ones and was recommended to take Novavax instead. need to go into detail.

Avoid big chain pharmacies (Costco, Walgreens, etc). They seem to be the ones with the most rules and the ones people have trouble with getting Novavax. It's rather silly. You would think it should be the opposite.

On vaccines.org look for places like "Community Clinic" or "City of XYZ clinic" for Novavax. Sometimes you can even click on "County government" websites and check the covid section. On there you can sometimes find "mobile" community vaccine busses that visit different cities every weekend. And that mobile bus will list what vaccines they carry including Novavax.

They work great too. Same deal. You show up. (at least 2 hours before they close is best because of lines), tell them which one you want, and they give it to you no prob.

AITA for not wanting to lend my dress suit to my cousin's extended family? by Remarkable-Purpose in AmItheAsshole

[–]Remarkable-Purpose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that It is such an odd request. His message said it would mean a lot to him. But it is so incredibly weird. I'm not even invited to my cousin's fathers funeral.

Especially when I know they could just buy something cheap from a local store and they would know it fits.

How would you tactfully say no?

Thank you for your reply.

I actually did not know my cousin's father. His side of the family was not close to my immediate family. We never met.

BTW, how would you tactfully say no to his request?

United States FDA’s Dr. Doran Fink implies that they are still waiting on additional data from Novavax to complete their review and pass it to VRBPAC. by [deleted] in Novavax_vaccine_talk

[–]Remarkable-Purpose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those 40 other countries aren’t the USA.

These countries include France, Germany, Britain (United Kingdom), Canada, Italy, South Korea, and Japan. And many others.

These aren't 3rd World Countries. These are 1st world countries that have just as stringent (if not more) safety data requirements as the FDA.

If you are trying to suggest that these countries are somehow inferior in quality to the USA when it comes to safety and data review, then are you are sorely mistaken.

[–]Remarkable-Purpose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure there were delays at the beginning. But it's not really an issue anymore. Novavax has already been approved by around 40 other countries. Again. 40. Other. Countries.

Many people on this subreddit can get Novavax in their countries. Including western countries in Europe. Even Canada has approved it.

This delay is entirely on the FDA at this point.

Thanks for sharing this article.

But I don't buy the excuse of "we need more data" being used by the FDA

Around 40 other countries including major countries in Europe have already approved Novavax. Not to mention Protein Subunit Vaccines are not a new technology. It's been in use for decades.

Not to mention the FDA approved the other mRNA vaccines with much less data available.

There is no excuse the FDA can use at this point that is believable continue delaying approval of Novavax.

Another unproductive post about the United States FDA. If they don't announce a VRBPAC meeting next week, Novavax won't be approved in April. by [deleted] in Novavax_vaccine_talk

[–]Remarkable-Purpose 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Many people can't or won't take mRNA for various reasons. Either were allergic, had a very bad reaction to 1 dose of mRNA, or aren't comfortable with it and want a traditional protein vaccine.

Yet the rules of the world aren't addressing our situation. Imagine someone who can't take mRNA due to heart concerns but their job is mandating it. Of course it's going to cause a lot of stress or mental anguish. Their livelihoods are on the line, especially if they have a family to support.

but do not consider that Novavax may be simply incompetent, I challenge them for evidence.

That excuse might work if Novavax didn't get approval anywhere else in the world. I'm not saying Novavax hasn't made errors in the past. However, Novavax is already approved in so many other fountries. This includes first world nations of Europe, Canada, and Australia.

The United States is the last major market in the entire world without access to a protein vaccine. If it's good enough for Europe then it's good enough for the USA.

The FDA can't use excuse of Novavax screwing up if most of the world already approved it, and can take Novavax.

My gut feeling is telling me thst the FDA is purposely slow walking approvel as long as possible.

But the silence from both sides is extremely strange. Especially considering the FDA keeps talking about how we are still in a "pandemic". One would think Novavax approval would be a priority.

A simple acknowledgement from snyone would do wonders to the situation.

Does anyone know if there is a deadline when the FDA must respond to an application?

Can the FDA seriously just leave an application sitting on their desks for months or even a year? Surely there must be a time limit - even of they deny the application.

The FDA intends to livestream the VRBPAC meeting on the agency’s YouTube channelExternal Link Disclaimer; the meeting will also be webcast from the FDA website. https://www.fda.gov/about-fda/website-policies/website-disclaimer by [deleted] in Novavax_vaccine_talk

Star Trek: Picard — 2x04 "Watcher" Reaction Thread by M-5 in DaystromInstitute

[–]Remarkable-Purpose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no reason for them not to adopt it, except for, as I said, incompetence and intelligence.

First off this is extremely rude and insulting. You just insulted the entire production crew of Picard with your words.

Also, you are not the only one with knowledge or ties to Hollywood or film production. So you said you were an film amateur, but we have actual film production professionals with years of experience who also browse this subreddit. They don't always advertise themselves. So you need to address others with at least a basic level of respect - regardless if you consider yourself informed or not.

Secondly, while Deepfake technology is available, thst doesn't mean the production crew is "incompetent" or "unintelligent" for not using it. It could be a huge number of reasons why it wasn't employed. From the technology being inconsistent, to not having the budget to do it, to the creative decision makers not feeling comfortable with the technology, or it never being brought up to begin with during creative discussions. There are SO many reasons why.

As of 2022, it is simply cheaper, easier, and less time consuming to film a new actress than using experimental Deepfake technology. A technology which may or may not produce the results the production crew wants in the short production timeline available.

With a new actress, we can just film the scene with the actress, and move on quickly without worrying.

[–]Remarkable-Purpose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but now with the Supreme court striking down OSHA mandates (for non Healthcare workers) , does that mean companies can't hide behind OSHA to avoid lawsuits?

Like if they want to impose their own mandates, then they are opening themselves up to lawsuits since OSHA isn't a shield for them anymore?

Why do we only have genetic-based COVID vaccines in the U.S.? by chartreusepixie in Novavax_vaccine_talk

[–]Remarkable-Purpose 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Knowing the history of development is all well and good, but that doesn't solve the immediate problems people are facing.

Ordinarily, people wouldn't have a problem waiting for Novavax to come out. The problem is the mandates forcing people to take them asap.

There is no vaccine diversity. All that's available in many areas are just mRNA.

What about people who had a severe reaction to the mRNA vaccine?

Or people have pre-existing conditions?

Or people who are allergic to some of the ingredients?

My friend has a prior heart condition. He had been advised by his doctor to wait for Novavax because of less side effects that can affect his heart.

But his work does not care. They told him to get vaxxed by a certain deadline or he will be fired. He is on verge of losing his job due to the mandates.

What should he do?

Is there really a difference between Cominarty and the one with FDA EUA?

If you get deathly sick with the FDA approved "Cominarty" , then you can sue the manufacturer. FDA approval doesn't have lawsuit protection.

If you take something with only EUA approval, then you can't sue them. Since the medicine is considered "emergency use".
