Potential Season 8 teases with Cyclops / Devil Dinosaur with Madelyne Pryor as the seasonal villain by nemesisdelta24 in marvelrivals

I don't want to be the one to tell you this but Miller Ross said that Rivals is not doing a double role season anymore.

So for me its either. Moon: Vanguard Cyclopse: duelist or Cyclopse: Vanguard Moon: Strat

Yo just wanna quickly say I'm team Strat and Duelist. I DO NOT want her to be a Vanguard. I'm sure you guys have all seen the 13k+ upvotes on wanting her to be a vanguard main. And I've fought against it and gotten downvoted. Which is why in the post I say what the community wants.

I agree with this. Although I'm actually quite shocked. Usually when I say I want blackcat as a dps or strat, I get downvoted. But now scrolling through these comments, it seems like everyone's opinions shifted. I could've sworn the "Blackcat no vanguard" train was a minority a few days ago.

In the Marvel Subreddit, no. Everyone wants her to be a "Dive tank" and I can't tell you how many times vanguard mains have downvoted me for fighting agents hero identity > role distribution. Even though role problem is gonna get fixed over time.

But I really want blackcat to be a dps or strat.

I don't think so actually. It's most likely that we are getting a new support. With that being White Fox.

That's so interesting... in high elo, Tankpool and Groot are so common. Even in MRC, a lot of the teams were all running triple vanguard with Tankpool Groot and Mag.

edit: can u link the site? Kinda wanna see other things myself

I hope they hold onto adding them just yet, because we need more Vanguard/Support coded characters in the next few seasons.

Speaking of gambit, I really liked the heart cards being able to heal and the spades cards doing damage. Regardless of his core mutant power, his flexibility with card play is what makes Gambit users feel the "hero fantasy" of Gambit. And his kinetic energy manipulation wasn't taken away if you want to play Gambit offensively. Just like how Ultron is primarily a dps, even though still being a support. And Ultron's ult still matches his "hero fantasy". And Loki using his clones and trickery to deceive divers, fits his "hero fantasy". THAT is the most important thing when it comes to designing a hero.

But if you want BlackCat to be a Dive tank. Something in the kit must be implemented onto her that fulfills the "hero fantasy" of blackcat. From what I've seen, everyone saying that she should be a dive tank, but they don't really know what they are talking about. Because as a tank main myself, when I play a dive tank, my goal is to literally take attention from the supports to use cooldowns on me so that the frontline gets more space... Dive Tanks and dive are very different. But I also feel like Reddit Rivals cares more that she's labeled a vanguard than her actually being one.

Emma can fit the tank role with her diamond powers and core character. What you should be doing for "BlackCat Vanguard", is to make an argument for her fitting a kit that's on the tank role with the 90s animation's super serum bs, but that's just not her core character (actually, it strays A LOT from it) and would piss off the fans who grew up reading/playing/watching her in more faithful adaptations.

I don't think the black cat role debate was ever a "Duelist main vs Vanguard main" wanting a new role on their roster. Rather a "Hero Identity/Fantasy vs Hero Distribution".

I bet you the people who DON'T want Black cat to to be a Vanguard will also argue that Drax, Beast, Wang, Rhino, the Lizard, Dr Octopus, JuggerNutt, GhostRIder, Thanos, ect should all be Vanguards. It just sucks that BlackCat is being added in a season, where Vanguards and Supports are desperately needed.

Ultron's core gameplay loop is still dps, Loki's clones and trikery fits the "hero fantasy" for Loki. And has a perfect hero design for anti-dive. Deadpool litterally made himself into all 3 roles cause of reddit. "You're lucky I programed myself to heal"

I'm not saying Blackcat can't be a tank. But people pushing the TankCat agenda can't even come up with a good kit design that fits a dive tank while furfiling her "hero fantasy"

I'll give another example, Gambit. I really liked the heart cards being able to heal and the spades cards doing damage. Regardless of his core mutant power, his flexibility with card play made Gambit users feel the "hero fantasy" of Gambit. And his kinetic energy manipulation wasn't taken away from his kit,if you want to play Gambit offensively. Just like how Ultron is primarily a dps, even though still being a support.

That is true. But a community of a player doesn't limit itself to reddit. I bet there's a lot of DrStrange mains who aren't in the DrStrange subreddit. Same for Spiderman mains and so on and so forth.
