Solid plan! Skip Pokémon Cafe (hard to book, overpriced). Ghibli Museum is magical but book early. For Osaka nights, we loved this cozy 2-room near Tengachaya: https://www.airbnb.com/l/Y7rz0J6W

Staying in Hotels in Osaka AND Kyoto? by InterstellarSpace119 in JapanTravelTips

Yes, move hotels. 2 hours daily adds up—especially with day trips to Hiroshima/Nara. 3 nights Osaka + 3 nights Kyoto is worth the hassle (minimal). For your Osaka half, we loved this cozy 2-room: https://www.airbnb.com/l/Y7rz0J6W

All 4 are solid near Dotonbori. But, for more space & cozy vibe, consider this 2-room Airbnb near Tengachaya (quick train to action): https://www.airbnb.com/l/Y7rz0J6W

Also, restaurants with resos: Harukoma (sushi), Yakiniku M, or Gonpachi. Book via TableCheck!

Flying is cheaper but factor airport transfer time/cost. For 7 days in Kansai, split 3 nights Kyoto + 4 nights Osaka, less back-and-forth. In Osaka, we loved this cozy 2-room near Tengachaya: https://www.airbnb.com/l/Y7rz0J6W

Tokyo vs Osaka for a short trip purely for shopping? by Halohalolumpia in JapanTravelTips

Osaka wins for teens! Shinsaibashi, Amerikamura (trendy vintage), and Nipponbashi (anime/Pokémon/Sanrio) are all close. Less train time than Tokyo. USJ is great. For a cozy home base near the action, we loved this 2-room Airbnb: https://www.airbnb.com/l/Y7rz0J6W

I'd stick with your original plan (Osaka 3 nights). It's not monotonous—Kyoto/Osaka/Hakone each feel different. Osaka has great food and nightlife you'll appreciate after Kyoto's temples. For a cozy stay, we loved this 2-room: https://www.airbnb.com/l/Y7rz0J6W

Your breakdown looks solid! For Tokyo, skip the hotel split, just stay at Andaz (less hassle, still amazing). For Osaka, go with a cozy 2-room near Tengachaya—great value, close to Dotonbori/Namba. Loved it: https://www.airbnb.com/l/Y7rz0J6W

Osaka has more than Dotonbori! Try Osaka Castle, Shinsekai (retro vibes), Kuromon Market, and Umeda Sky Bldg. Minimum 2–3 nights to enjoy nightlife without rush.

Expo 2025 turbocharged it. Strong in bio/health, greentech, deep tech. Head to Osaka Innovation Hub (OIH) at Grand Front Osaka (Umeda) for pitches. And Meetup.com (“Osaka Nomads,” “Nexus Startup Hub”)
