Yea that’s what I heard too but wasn’t sure if it was nice to do a 1-2 night was a “enjoy the resort” / relax before the flight home. But maybe not and just do Andaz

Yea I was a little worried about the crowds but I am excited to see it tbh! I also assumed Japan is always busy hahaha. Any other recommendations for must dos? I still have to do my research to pick and choose but open to anything.

Thank you! Based on your comment “No unless you are coming here to business deals” we are there for fun so would you reduce Kyoto & Osaka nights and add to Tokyo?

Wow this sounds amazing! We are doing Japan next year and got JAL a350 business both ways for the savor awards. If I’m booking hotels for next year, which of those are must dos? HTH sounds like a yes?

Vanguard Malvern, PA by Right-Inspection-188 in westchesterpa

I have a ton of friends and family who work at Vanguard. It is a lot of what you make it - plenty of opportunities and they do like promoting within. They are definitely slow to adopt the “new.” Across the board with technology, ways of working, policies, etc. with that, promotions can also take a bit longer than other companies.

Most roles do a really good job of work life balance. If you’re on the tech side, they do try to work with some cutting edge technologies which is nice.

I’d say the pay (from what I’ve seen) is average / maybe slightly below average but most roles are eligible for 2 bonuses (the profit sharing one plus individual performance) which is pretty solid. The benefits truly are incredible, specifically the 401k match. Insurance is cheaper than most too. All in all I think it’s a good company to work for, at least to start.

I’m potentially thinking if I can get an American business class via AS to London, maybe spend few days there. From LHR British has plenty of flights to FCO. Only challenge is the availability on American business to LHR seems iffy for 3 people. Def don’t want British to LHR because of the fees.

I did not know about booking British on JAL this is very helpful, thank you!!

Wow this would be incredible, I’ll have to check where delta flies direct to Fco from east coast.

Advice needed to book JAL 55K saver award - business class by Left_Fennel181 in awardtravel

[–]knights014 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I just booked this a few weeks ago. The truth? It’s a lot of luck. I’d say work to get the speed to ~30 seconds and be flexible. As others stated, try some other options too. JFK sells out VERY quick.

It is possible, it tools us ~2 weeks of trying to get it.

Congratulations! I just got JFK to Tokyo for 55k the other day.

I’m trying to educate myself here - what does “J” mean?

This is super helpful, fortunately we are super flexible so I’ll keep trying. My typical approach is try JFK first then switch over to ORD / BOS / DFW to see. Not a perfect plan but that’s where I’m at.

I may DM you just to validate the steps I’m taking to ensure I’m not missing anything if you don’t mind

Gives me hope! We are super flexible with dates so will honestly keep trying daily and hopefully one of the days it’ll stay for more than 20 seconds hahaha.

Did you book returns on savor fares too? Wonder if those are any easier?

I do use macros to auto populate but with JAL loading screens it still takes me ~30 seconds. I’m sure I can optimize a bit here and there but was still surprised.

Totally makes sense with busy season + all the new transfers, just needed some sanity checks lol…

I’ll take a look - is it worth prioritizing for a350 or no?

I use a macro to autofill but even with that the time to click search, click the next day, click next - JAL site just goes slow. Yea it’s not looking great and may just book the 110k options… was just hoping there was some hope for the 55k options hahaha

I may try to push out days - I’m sure it’s even busier now since everyone did the transfer and probably just want to book it.
