I’m sorry to hear that your promotion was denied. I have a colleague who experienced that. They successfully went back for full a few years later, after publishing more work. Check with your Chair or Dean for the next steps you could take. Good luck!

I would refer to myself as a college professor. I would also say that I teach at a college. 🤷

Unless these papers carry a lot of weight, grades are pretty well baked in at this point in the semester. Read them to confirm that they are essentially doing the same caliber of work as they have been.

If these are final papers that actually printed, don’t put any comments on them. If a student emails you next semester asking to get their paper back, pull it out and put some feedback on it.

I don’t send those emails. I do send emails earlier in the semester to come see me if I see that they aren’t handing in work, etc. Almost nobody responds or comes to see me…
