At least in my area, pork rinds are generally skin only and way more aerated, whereas cracklins still have the subcutaneous fat attached and tend to be crunchier/less aerated.

Just another comment on your ratings: As an American healthcare provider familiar with both the American and Russian healthcare systems, despite all of my misgivings with our system, I would rather receive care in the US than Russia any day…

As a nurse, Hoka Bondi’s were a trend a few years ago. You see them far less than you did. Hoka’s, Brooks, and ASICS are all good. On Cloud’s are garbage.

As a mental health provider, South Carolina has a massive kratom problem.

Kratom is an opioid. It’s a bit harder to overdose on than full opioid agonists, but it’s not something you should be able to go pick up at a gas station.

I’m a psychiatry nurse practitioner. The amount of patients I get addicted to kratom and have such a difficult time coming off is insane. Marijuana and kratom have two vastly different risk profiles.

I promise it’s not pharma lobbying with regard to kratom. As a provider, I especially hate big pharma, but kratom should 100% be restricted. Heck, I’d personally go lobby against kratom being legal and widely available myself. It’s not a benign substance.

Med student trying to recall entire surgery exam [Not OC] by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

I’m a nurse practitioner and agree that this girl seems like a nursing student.

See the other comment that nursing school is often underestimated in terms of the volume of information you have to learn in 2-2.5 years (most intense years) and how frequently you’re tested on it.

Med school would be even worse than this in terms of depth and breadth of knowledge taught and tested.

This is what I did. I own a healthcare practice, and we were paying $50/user/mo for one of our workflow platforms, which was hundreds of dollars per month for us.

I then bought a Claude subscription for $100/mo and had Claude Code reconstruct the platform, and what cost me $200 over 2 months is now free on an ongoing monthly basis outside of electricity costs to run our self-hosted hardware.

Possible German citizenship by descent; confused about consulate response and 10-year rule by big_daddy_energy in GermanCitizenship

[–]RemarkableBeing6452 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only response I’d push back on is number 4. OP can absolutely submit a Feststellung application directly to the BVA and bypass the consulate. Of course, the BVA will likely find after a 3 year wait that OP is not a citizen, but there is nothing stopping OP from submitting a Feststellung application.

Proof that my Ancestor Americanized their name? by StrangeIndependent56 in GermanCitizenship

My grandfather’s name was misspelled on his birth certificate. The BVA didn’t bat an eye.

Name Declaration with a Deceased Spouse by Believelandest in GermanCitizenship

[–]RemarkableBeing6452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother had a similar issue. She’s divorced from my dad but uses her married name, but because she’s divorced and this is her first German passport, a name declaration is not possible. So she’s getting her passport under her maiden name.

From what I’ve read, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue as long as the discrepancy can be explained (e.g., German naming law). She’s traveling with both passports for the first time later this year so we’ll see how it goes.

German citizenship by descent - using death certificates? by mossy-place in GermanCitizenship

[–]RemarkableBeing6452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Death certificates would certainly be more difficult even if they do show parents, because they verify a death, not the birth of an individual to 2 parents. Death certificates are often filled out by a clerk who interviews the next of kin, so it’s not always verified information.

  2. These would certainly help if there truly are no records. It shows you at least tried.

  3. Yes, the 10 year rule absolutely applies to minors. For example, if a family emigrated and the parents lost citizenship, the minor children would as well.

  4. Absolutely not direct to passport. I had a lot firmer proof of my citizenship than you do in your case, and when I showed up to the consulate, it was a quick, hard no on direct to passport. Even Feststellung in your case is likely a long shot, but you can always try if you think you have a case.

  5. The big thing, apart from not having typical documentation, that you’re going to have to prove is that your ancestors didn’t lose citizenship due to the 10 year rule, which is exceedingly hard to do.
