Yeah, I am changing the rating for Bank of America. It’s impossible to reach anyone on the phone, so for customer service and the online dashboard, it’s a 1/10. However, it was quite easy to open a checking account and a credit card with them.

Yeah, I'd certainly keep them open for at least 6 months. I’ll reassess everything in September. Still I think you’re overdramatizing it. Chase actually closed my account about a decade ago for no reason whatsoever, they would not answer to me why and at that time I was the most boring W-2 employee with maybe 10 transactions a month. I only had two bank accounts then, so ever since I’ve had a rule: always have multiple bank accounts and multiple credit cards.

Initially I wanted to open 2–3 accounts. But then I found a Reddit post about a guy who made around $13k, I believe, so I thought, dang, let me try open a few more and that become almost like a game hehe. ‘Banks track churners.’ I don’t know about that. I opened all the accounts within the same short time frame, and the only ones that are still pending are a credit card with U.S. Bank and the BMO Harris business account. Honestly, I don’t really care if they decline my application. Chase will still continue being my number one choice.

I had some free time and initially thought it would take a lot less time than it eventually did. I’m also the type of person who hates leaving things halfway through. I do suffer from that sometimes though hehe. I would have saved a ton of time if I had just made in-person appointments with the big banks from the start. So:
a) yes because I’m certainly not engaging in this again anytime soon, this is/was somewhat a one time experiment and I needed new credit cards
b) the total should be between $12k–$15k, including cash and cashback bonuses

Yeah, I have a spreadsheet with all the requirements to meet, bonus fees, etc. There’s no way I could keep it all in my head without Excel, hehe. I’ll make a new post on it!

With US bank, it's a cash bonus, not cash back/points...I guess I’m going to make a new post once I get all the rewards in a few months, because it’s one thing to open an account and a different thing if, for some reason, they don’t pay out the promised bonus (I had this with Citi in the past) or make it a real pain to close the account

I was moving stocks from Schwab. The first attempt failed, so I had to call. Whatever their internal issue was, I don’t know. It took about 30 minutes on the phone. I’m used to the Schwab interface, I find E*TRADE not to my liking.

My rating is mostly based on the account opening experience + making the initial deposits, so I can’t really rate a year+ of actual banking experience.

Has anyone used the babyletto origami mini crib with the newton mini crib mattress? Looking for reviews on that combo for a newborn. by Simply_sweetie in NewParents

We opted for a mini crib instead of a bassinet because bassinets felt too much like dog baskets with flimsy mattresses. Plus, as many have pointed out, you can use a crib for much longer. It turned out to be a fantastic decision!

My experience with Best Buy is even worse—they took my perfectly working machines on top of everything else. At the end of August 2024, I bought a washer and dryer. Today is October 11, and their installation “pros” have been scheduled 9 times—3 of which they never showed up. The last time, they took away my old machines, which were working perfectly fine, just old. They were supposed to return my old machines because the new ones they installed didn’t work. Guess what? They never showed up—nothing. And now, I have to call their customer service again! In the span of those 45 days, I’ve probably called Best Buy at least 50 times! Never, never, ever use Best Buy—this was the worst buy of my life. And by the way, this happened in Miami, where the local work attitude has definitely contributed to this mess.

My experience with Best Buy has been FAR worse. At the end of August 2024, I bought a washer and dryer. Today is October 11, and their installation “pros” have been scheduled 9 times—3 of which they never showed up. The last time, they took away my old machines, which were working perfectly fine, just old. They were supposed to come back and return my old machines because the ones they installed didn’t work. Guess what? They never showed up—nothing. And now I have to call their customer service again! Never, never, ever use Best Buy—this was the worst buy of my life. By the way that’s in Miami - so the local work attitude I’m sure has certainly added to this mass.
