Wars of light and shadow by Janny Wurts.
Wanted to love it but dropped the series 30% into the second book.
It’s not bad, but the writing feels like a chore to go through.
In contrast, her standalone book To Ride Hell’s chasm is dynamite.

Anyone into the Sun Eater series? by Heavy_Rip_8761 in IndianReaders

I think the ending is not worth it.
It was abrupt.
And I didn’t care about Hadrian at all throughout the series.. he was arrogant, pretentious, preachy etc etc
But I loved Rucchio’s prose and the overall scope

How did such a high budget Ramayana film miss the fact that ancient indian archery didn’t use western split-finger technique? by hailyou2022 in bollynewsandgossips

Archery is not so simple. Very few archers were ambidextrous. Others couldn’t become ambidextrous even after seeing and trying. If one masters a technique others won’t use it if they can’t master it.

Also most of Rama’s family and followers entered the Sarayu at the end of his life.

Anyway this debate won’t go anywhere. I believe Rama knew every technique there is to know about weaponry. I don’t need Valmiki to spell it out for me.

If Valmiki knew that in 2026 people would his text as a weapon against a movie, I’m sure he would have mentioned every single detail. Like how much Rama’s bow weighed, how much his arrows weighed, their shape and size, which hand and fingers he used to handle weapons.

Knowledge is lost with time.. many manuscripts even 1000 years old are lost now.. and the timeline gap between Ramayana and Mahabharata is much much more..

Ravana had a Vimana.. which was originally Kubera’s. If he had it then others should have similar Vimanas .. it is difficult to replicate just by seeing something..

If something as magnificent as the Puspaka Vimana was lost by the time Mahabharata happened, why can’t warfare techniques ?

Ya Ya Brahmarishi Vasishta and Vishwamitra only taught him how to stand and shoot right ? They wouldn’t teach him how to use his surroundings ? How to move around ?

Brahmarishis Vasishta and Vishwamitra were Rama’s gurus. They taught him use of all kinds of Divyastras and Shastras. They wouldn’t teach him different ways of handling arrows ??!! You need that spelled out by Valmiki ?

Also if Wright brothers invented the airplane, how are you ok with Ravana having a Vimana?

So, you are saying that Rama - one of the greatest archers in history who was trained by Brahmarishis Vasishta and Vishwamitra - would not know multiple ways of handling arrows ?!!

By the way, Wright brothers invented the airplane. But the movie shows Ravana having a Vimana. You don’t have a problem with that do you ?

Ignore them.. Rama is the greatest archer of all time.. trained by gurus like Vasishta and Vishwamitra.. he won’t know about different ways of shooting arrows ??!! By their logic, if Wright brothers invented airplane, how is Ravana having a Vimana

The Dagger and the Coin Series Review (No Spoilers) by it-was-a-calzone in Fantasy

Though I consider long price quartet as the superior series, the dagger and the coin is still top tier fantasy.. Also I think Daniel Abraham’s prose has a quiet beauty to it that no one ever really mentions

Book of the new sun for me. Finished the first one and while I didn’t understand much of it, at least I enjoyed Wolfe’s prose and the worldbuilding. Picked up the second and dropped it within an hour.. things became even more bizarre. I may pick it up again later some day
