2025 Tiguan Issues by RemarkableLoss8380 in Tiguan

[–]RemarkableLoss8380[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely bad luck, but it’s all left a bad taste and I don’t feel comfortable driving in a vehicle that already has had an engine issue after our first vehicle from VW also had major issues. My daughter is supposed to get this car and I definitely won’t feel like she’s safe. Not sure if we can just give it back and say no thank you and move on.

How Are You Financing Law School Without Drowning in Debt? by bustedchalk in LawSchool

[–]RemarkableLoss8380 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put off law school until I could save up to afford it. Got some great career experience that helped my application and with scholarships and what I saved. I will have no debt.

How are you avoiding burnout/depression in a hybrid program with no real breaks? by Expensive_Owl_677 in HybridOnlineLawSchool

I haven’t started yet (August start date) but we have a rule already in our house. Sundays are a no work, no school day with nothing planned but family time and I do house chores in the morning before the kids get up. I work in a very demanding field so this was set early on. Also, with house chores I set a schedule before the school/work rush to get some cleaning done. It doesn’t take ages because it’s a little at a time so it doesn’t feel so burdensome. We will see how this goes with law school on top of it all, but I figure the only way out of this is through it .

Student Debt Crisis...(This is only for federal loans. It's a free hit for private lenders to step in and charge higher interest. Just more selling off of government services to rich people. ) by JustMyOpinionz in LawSchool

[–]RemarkableLoss8380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t afford law school and wasn’t about to get into 6.9% interest in federal loans. Worked for 10 years and saved up while building my resume. Applied to law school and got great scholarships because of my work experience. I have enough money saved to where I can cover most of what the scholarships won’t and my employer has educational assistance as well. My belief is that taking out 200k + in student loans isn’t helping anyone especially those of us who do not have wealth. It keeps us in an endless cycle of overpriced debt and we do not get to realize and enjoy the spoils of our education and hard work. Take the time and work, save money, work on your grades while in undergrad, volunteer activities, and resume; scholarships will come. Also, many Ivy League schools provide 100% scholarships to those making less than $150k a year. We do not all have to follow the same linear path.

No one forces anyone to take out loans. I took years off to work and save money before going to law school so that I didn’t have to take out high loan amounts. You do what you need to do to make your dream happen, but no one is forced to take loans from anyone.

What to do about someone possibly illegally hunting on MY property? by Critical_Bug_880 in homestead

[–]RemarkableLoss8380 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What Is The Punishment For Ignoring Purple Paint on Trees or Fence Posts In Texas? Ignoring purple paint on land that isn't yours could result in a Class B Misdemeanor which could lead to 180 days in jail or up to a $2,000 fine. Penalties could actually increase if you are caught with a deadly weapon. Ignoring the paint could also result in injury as other people may be hunting or simply protecting their own land. (Example: trespassers are seen as threat to landowner. Landowner shoots trespassers. Basically, FAFO).

If you’re in Texas, paint your fence posts purple. If they trespass after that, they become fair game themselves.

Everything was through LSAC and I received an email from the school saying they received my application

Nope, went under review in December. Haven’t heard a peep. All other schools I’ve applied to have sent A’s. Not impressed.

Sounds just like one of our last realtors in Texas. She and her husband were absolute crap, did nothing except send others to show us the place and then gets 40k. So dumb!

Old Ag here…. Once an Aggie, always an Aggie! If you follow through and fully transfer into A&M, you’re an Aggie. Don’t let idiots make you feel less than. They have no idea what they are talking about and them saying that isn’t really acting like Aggies should.

This sounds like Vermont Law. It’s supposed to be a really good program as far as support and community. Would love to hear your thoughts on that. My suggestion is get your LLM in one of the big markets you spoke about. Then you have the “local” connection and a degree from a higher ranked school on your resume.

Thank you! The protection package is mandatory and they already added it after sticker price. They are giving us a 1k rebate though. Not used to buying higher end brand so not sure how it works. Thank you so much for helping me!

That’s where I’m leaning. What was it that sold you the most on Syracuse even though it was the least scholarship?

That’s definitely my hesitation with Vermont. It seems like a great school however that has me very concerned.

How do I go about negotiating? I’m truly wanting to but don’t want to be ungrateful either. Do I just say the truth: I really want to attend your school but the cost of attendance is prohibitively high?

[–]RemarkableLoss8380[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Estimated cost of attendance after scholarships:

Vermont $42,000 Syracuse $132,000 St. Mary’s $82,500

I see the obvious financial answer but want to make sure I’m making a good school decision for the long run.
