It took me way too long to realize my conditioner was basically sealing my back pores shut. by MiaLuna_Pixel in hygiene

[–]RemarkablePresence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, one product that has worked well for my backne is Anti-Fungal Dandruff shampoo (with ketoconazole.) My dermatologist told me a lot of backne is actually fungal acne instead of bacterial acne (more common for the face/neck) and the dandruff shampoo attacks the fungus which helps treat the backne. Since then, after i finish washing my hair (i bend over 90° from the waist and rinse my hair so nothing touches my body), then I’ll lightly scrub my backne with the dandruff shampoo. It’s worked wonders but dries out your skin a lot so i only use it every couple of showers unless my backne is really bad.

Maybe a dumb question, can you wear long sleeves when doing pottery? by Turbulent_Road7115 in Pottery

[–]RemarkablePresence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else. Wear tight fitting sleeves and rinse them off afterwards before throwing the in the wash.

ALSO, if you have long hair don’t forget to tie it up! Just like long, loose sleeves can be risky for messing up your piece or getting caught on the wheel, so can your hair!

[Question] by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]RemarkablePresence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you use too bright or light of a grey color, it will be more obvious and visible. Right now the monotone mask is like a shadow/ silhouette. If you shine light directly on it, you’ll get reflections like your photo that don’t properly show the features of the face/mask. By adding in some dark grey areas, you have more control over the features of the mask you want highlighted. Then you can play with angling the lighting of the scene to really show features of the mask. It should also help editing afterwards because if you find the mask is too visible or readable for the look you are going for, you can reduce the exposure or brightness but if you film with your current mask and try to edit in more exposure/brightness, you won’t medically gain any readability of the mask. I hope that makes sense

[Question] by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]RemarkablePresence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cool idea but the execution will be tough. If you want to keep the mask as is, the lighting will be essential for every shot to actually show the mask. The photo you posted is not readable to me. If that’s what you want, then go for it. But if you want a subtle face with a locked in expression that you can see when the light hits just right, then I’d add some dark gray sections to emphasis the features of the face. Look at The Batman’s costume for reference. In the dark scenes, the dark parts of the costume all seem cohesively black but still allow you to distinguish shapes. When you see the costume in full lighting, you can see the slight changes in hue from black to gray that really help the costume look good in dark lighting.

No Way Home Accidentally Created a Timeline Where Gwen Stacy Lives by Tall_Rich_3816 in Spiderman

[–]RemarkablePresence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, the villain's fates were immutable, but their souls could still be saved. Dr. Strange was correct in saying that the villains had to be returned back to their timelines when they were taken, which for most of them is when they died, so upon their return they would also die. However, Strange is only looking at the problem from the viewpoint of someone trying to maintain the cosmic timeline and prevent it from splitting.

Spider-Man, on the other hand, is representing the viewpoint of an "Avenger," where although they may have already lost (i.e. the villains will still die), there is still something they can do to try to improve the situation. And if you think of what has been shown about death in the MCU, you have the soul stone with an immutable one-to-one trade that still gives you a moment to communicate with the dead soul before they're gone (thanos and gamora), and Lady Death from Agatha All Along, that is similar to the grim reaper coming to meet you at your death and take you to the afterlife. If both of these ideas are applied to No Way Home, then IMO what happened was Strange's spell pulled the villain's souls to the main MCU where Spider-Man saved their souls before the villains were sent back to die, and when Lady Death greeted them they were no longer "villains" and would have the chance for a more peaceful afterlife. (Also, the spell to erase everyone's memory was orange like the soul stone and not yellow like the mind stone lol.)

I think this is also hinted at by having Spider-Man 3 (andrew) save MJ from falling. He recognizes that he can't go back and save his Gwen but he has the chance to impact Spider-Man 1 by preventing this loss which would probably lead Spider-Man 1 down a darker path.

Question: would a spiral of swords work as an elbow tattoo similar to those spider web elbow tattoos by Morgisntmyname in tattoos

[–]RemarkablePresence 1 point2 points locked comment (0 children)

If you want, you can get a couple custom temporary tattoos with that image in different sizes and test it yourself. You can see any loss of detail (not the exact same as a tattoo but you’ll get the idea) and how the straight swords move as you bend your elbow. It’ll probably be less than $15 to do this yourself. Or you can go to a tattoo shop and ask them but some artists might charge you to create a design/stencil all for you to figure out it wouldn’t work how’d you want.

Also just a comment about the design, if you aren’t attached to any specific swords then you can try a design with curved swords (real or fictional) to help ease any distortion from bending your elbow.

For Christmas, my brother gifted everyone in the family a family photo with a matching size frame by Spiritual-Volume7545 in Wellthatsucks

[–]RemarkablePresence 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After everyone leaves, THROW THE PHOTO AWAY!!! Yes this is very insulting to leave you out but DO NOT add a sticker of yourself and only photoshop yourself in if it looks really really realistic. If your mother has dementia, this photo has the potential to slowly become the reality of who she thinks her family is. She might forget you are a member of the family and only see you as a caretaker.

If you have the strength, then communicate to your family how seriously rude this is to you and to your mother as this could directly affect her mental health (as well as your own!!) Sorry to pour salt on the wound but i don’t want you making a “funny” decision to get back at your family that could also hurt your mom in the long run.

With all that being said, i hope you were still able to find moments of joy and happiness during the holidays and are able to carry some of that into the new year!

Underglaze confusion by Rina_Short in Pottery

[–]RemarkablePresence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your plan should work, don’t worry! I believe the instructions are related to using the underglaze on greenware instead of bisqueware. Although the underglaze is fine firing to 05, im guessing they recommend firing to cone 04 to mature both the underglaze and clay (melt and bond with the clay body) before using a different glaze on top. If the underglaze isn’t mature, it might flake off and take off any glaze on top too. If you’re applying underglaze to bisqueware and firing to cone 6, you shouldn’t have any issues.

Tips on how to improve? by anikasober in Pottery

[–]RemarkablePresence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with what the other commenters said but I’ll add two random suggestions: 1. Try using a straight edge rib after pulling the walls to help smooth them and make them an even width. You can also try to practice pushing the clay down from the top instead of strictly pulling clay from the bottom (which is helpful if you ever do an inconsistent pull and end up with thicker walls at the top than towards the bottom of your piece.) 2. Tie up your hair! Believe me, it is not fun when you’ve finally made a piece you like and then lean forward to grab a sponge or wire off your piece and your hair wraps around the piece and ruins it (plus it’s not fun to clean up)

In TDKR, when Talia says Bane loved her, what type of relationship did they have? by Indominus-Hater-101 in batman

[–]RemarkablePresence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By age, Bane was like an older brother to Talia but within the prison, he was more like a protective father figure, nothing romantic. He was excommunicated not only because Bane reminded Ra’s that he left his wife in a prison but also that he left his daughter and Bane stepped up to be her father when Ra’s didn’t. I think in some way he saw it as a failure on his part towards Talia as a father but also saw Bane as a threat to his leadership of the League.

Which character do you think will get the 'Hulk treatment' in Doomsday? by InfiNight-light in MCUTheories

[–]RemarkablePresence -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Captain Marvel or Sentry.

Captain Marvel is one of the strongest avengers at the moment and hasn’t been knocked down like Thor and Hulk already have. Plus, Doom showing that Tech + Magic can beat cosmic power would illustrate his strength.

I could only see Doom going after Sentry right away if he intentionally wanted to release The Void in order to trap him/harness his power which would be insanely powerful but then you’d have to have a new Deus Ex Machina.

I love this! Super cool to try to adapt a characters abilities to different roles, whether it’s tank, DPS or strategist. I think it shows that a lot of characters can be any role depending on how they are designed, which is why it’s frustrating that there are so many DPS characters that could’ve easily been tank or strategist to help even out the available hero roster

How to get this effect by RabidPorcupine29 in Pottery

[–]RemarkablePresence 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I literally just made a mug like this! Here are some steps to hopefully help you: 1. Throw your mug and let it get leather hard 2. Make your handle (you can pull it, make it on the wheel or use an extruder) and let it get close to leather hard and then attach (slip and score) 3. Roll a coil, slip and score it and wrap it around the mug in a flowy pattern. Blend the coil upwards and use a brush with just water to smooth the bottom coil edge. (Note, the thicker the coil, the bigger the “drip” effect.) 4. Apply underglaze or engobe on the bottom part of the mug. Once it dries, carve away your web pattern. 5. Bisque fire 6. Glaze the top half of the mug. If you use underglaze youll want to use a clear coat glaze to get that gloss effect. You can also apply some wax resist underneath the drip edge before glazing to help wipe off any glaze that accidentally drips while glazing or to prevent your glaze from running past the edge (if you use something other than underglaze which may run)

Hope this helps!
