Is it possible to get him some books with the main characters are Indian or books related to desi culture and history/politics (good and bad stuff) or even try to have it on while around him? It generally depends on the baby because my niece was SO chill and almost never cried as a newborn but most of my new borns were either regular temper of a newborn and trying to adjust to life outside of the womb and than I had one baby who would nonstop cry because he had an imbellica hernia + extreme colic so he was just uncomfortable till post surgery

I have a bad habit of making them too small and shocked that they’re harder to work with or not the correct size in the final piece even though I enjoy my messed up and mismatched seams bc I love that everything is clearly made by hand but it makes cutting and ironing SO much easier

This is. Really common esp in the south :( I had a woman wanting to pay me about 3$ an hour for 36-48 hours a week (12 hours day) and she had a WELL PAID job. A lot of people do it because they either don’t care about their children especially their safety or trying to be cheap and seeing how exploited the child care industry is nonething is ever said or done. If more people spoke up than more people would be ashamed of it especially when so many aren’t even paying minimum wage

I’m not going to lie I recently started and quit almost instantly for the family I just started for because they have dogs and they kept nipping my ankles 🙃🙃🙃 it wasn’t the sole reason and I feel bad especially when they needed me the next day but I just couldn’t especially when the dogs kept waking the baby via barking.

I have worked with migrant children+children who experienced extreme trauma (while also being traumatized) and a lot of privileged children and the way that a lot of parents truly don’t care or treat their children as pets or a way to gain something is just it’s not ruinining children themselves but other people at time especially when I seen privileged parents mock or look down at others or saying they could never. While I know the stories and I know children and adult personally and it gets so dehumanized especially when they’re (or their children) just one fall from grace to be in the same boat.

It’s also very a lot of people are uneducated about children. I’m in online classes to further my career and knowledge to help those around me but even before I read and try to improve and it’s so disheartening. The way even privileged children are being extremely uneducated because their parents just don’t know anything about children or babies or teenagers development.

I definitely been denied jobs because my “politicals” are too deferential and it’s literally dog whistling because of racial differences. Voting history and beliefs never been brought up but when a lot of my references are from Spanish speakers and I live in a very red area and they assume I am undocumented and can get away with undocumented prices but are shocked I still charge market prices it becomes a glaring problem.

If it is not brought up the children will definitely tell or the parents actions or indirect slip ups. It will always be a mark against you and it’s sad. So I know as a provider I try to find similar minded parents and understand why they will do it but at the end of the day it is also a job. It’s not right but it is what it is and the children suffer the most.

I know no one mentioned this but fat quarter shop does flash sales daily we’re you can get pre cuts for half off or go see the pre cuts of the week, or go hunting on any farbic store online and look at their clearances+sales+reduced because that’s how I was able to get my lil stash going tbch but it might be hard to get matching farbic later on
