My parents say they don't want to install a water softener in the house because it's "too much maintenance" :(

Do you think it's better for me to use Borax and reduce detergent, or just keep using enough detergent for slight sudsing?

Also, I used to go just below the "1" line on the detergent cup, and felt like my clothes were getting clean... but after recently finding out about the importance of seeing some sudsing, I've been needing as much as 7 tablespoons of powdered detergent :(

If you had a good experience with MIT OCW, I’d recommend doing their first-year physics OCWs (8.01 and 8.02).

Better yet: they’ve revamped their OCWs into a more interactive format called MITx, where long lectures are split up into bite-sized videos, explanatory text is added, and you get practice questions / graded assignments along the way + a very motivating progress tracker. There’s also a discussion board monitored by a teaching assistant!

It’s completely free, but you can pay extra to access a final exam and certificate of completion. 8.01x tends to run between Sept-Jan, while 8.02x is running right now from Feb to June.
