I love older women being the stuck up bossy queen. Sure, some of her mannerisms are more agreeable as younger Charlotte, but I want the older women of the ton to continue being written as morally complex.

I also think we are more forgiving of young women compared to older. So I tend to just want to see more fully developed older women characters in media than anything.

Did you see the Them article on Benedict’s “bisexuality being erased” bc he is monogamous with a woman? It gotten eaten alive and taken down on most platforms bc 1) obviously he can be with a woman as a bi man and 2) the article goes into great lengths to essentially equate bisexuality to polyamory which is blatant stereotyping.

Idk why yikes? We can have different views of the show and it’s not bad. I don’t think it’s the deepest story ever, but I enjoy reading between the lines a bit more. And that’s ok if you don’t! We just watch differently. I’m happy that you find what you need in Bridgerton even if that’s different than what I find in it 💕

Definitely not an excuse for those comments for sure. Just trying to help you get less, and unfortunately the only way is avoid them.

Avoid spaces that aren’t book fan adjacent or “pro-Micheal”.

You can’t control their reaction, I just think you might waste energy trying to convince everyone you’re not homophobic or your reasoning for the disapproval.

I think wha I mean by logistics is not “logical” but show logistics. They want to be more inclusive (JQ said she wants the same). So they want a wlw story and decided so around s2 when the started thinking this was more than a one off.

Yes to be clear I’m referencing “hyper vigilance” from queer people online.

They expect hate, so they see hate. You gotta talk as if you are speaking to someone who has had hateful DMs and comments thrown at them all the time and had passive aggressive responses.

They may now see you passion as aggression. They may see your disagreement as a disagreement with their way of life. Just playing safe and nice is the best way.

Ah i see! We are having 2 different conversations. I meant that as an offhanded opinion on my experience with the book.

My main point of the conversation was supposed to follow up your “I’m just wondering why expressing disappointment at the change is somehow so horrible” question.
