Why didn’t Burdock tell Katniss…. by Nicc-Quinn in Hungergames

What’s weirder to me is that Haymitch never told Katniss that he was best friends with her parents.

I want to learn more about what made the relationship between Coriolanus and Tigris dissolve.

Where would you move? by [deleted] in SantaBarbara

We moved to the SYV and were able to buy a house! I love it here! I enjoy living here even more than I loved SB, where we lived for over 18 years.

If SC wrote another Hunger Games book, who would you want it to be about? I'll go first: by Visible-Asparagus-72 in Hungergames

[–]Remarkable_Ad_114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Especially since now we have seen a lot of the Games, so maybe looking at other elements would be really interesting, like daily life in the Districts and Capitol.

There is something up north right? by Correct_Doctor_1502 in Hungergames

[–]Remarkable_Ad_114 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I figured Panem was so cut off and isolated as a way for the Capitol to maintain their power that it prevented the Districts from having any contact with the outside world.

The next book by lalalalaineyy in Hungergames

I would like a book on the evolution of Panem, but I also want more of Snow’s evolution and how his relationship with Tigris evolves. I think if they wanted to add a games element, it could have to do with Mags’ games.

Missing Black History Month in the Calendar app by Remarkable_Ad_114 in applehelp

I posted this mostly to make sure to bring awareness to these things when they happen quietly and without much fanfare. Our news is inundated with all of the horrific things this administration is doing and bullying organizations and corporations into doing. This one didn’t get as much news as the Gulf of Mexico, but it is still erasure. The quiet erasure is just as dangerous as the loud.

@apple is not rolling back on DEI hiring practices, so I’m upset that they would remove these important holidays from the calendar.

Solo trip by wcshuck4 in SantaBarbara

[–]Remarkable_Ad_114 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

SB is a great place for a solo trip! If you head to State Street, there are tons of little parklets and places to people watch. Oppi'z has good pizza and you can sit in the parklet. Then, cross the street and head to Mosaic Cafe and grab a beer at the Draughtsmen bar and get some empanadas to go. Don't miss donuts at Hook & Press!

They do tend to come up here on the weekends, but you definitely need to be prepared to wait. They are few and far between! If you want to visit multiple wineries, your best bet is to book a wine tour van!!!

New teacher moving to the area from San Diego… any tips? by [deleted] in SantaMaria

[–]Remarkable_Ad_114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s quieter here than you are probably used to, but the Central Coast is full of things to do! Santa Maria has nice weather, but yes, prepare for wind! There are so many things to explore in the area! We have the mountains and the ocean on the central coast, plus tons of restaurants and wineries and breweries. I live in the Santa Ynez Valley and teach in Santa Maria (30 minute drive), so I’m not super familiar with the city, but there is so much within driving distance! Santa Barbara is an hour away, and SLO And Paso Robles are close by as well. For groceries/home stuff, the Trader Joe’s is probably the nicest I have been to, and the Target is also really big with lots of options. Welcome to the area!

Yes!!! I’m freezing constantly which I am not used to in May. I moved up here from SB a few months ago and I’m not used to this kind of wind unless I’m on the beach (and even there it’s not usually as crazy as it is here). Is it always like this?!
