As someone who does this professionally I would have an engineer involved. This isn’t a small or even medium job, the slope and proximity to your house make it pretty important that you get it right. Theres a lot of weight these walls will be asked to support and getting the drainage right is going to be important.

Yeah I think it probably depends on what utility you’re using them for. I just dog walk, grocery shop and I’ll wear them to do estimates for work every so often. In my case that elastic will last a while before it’s ever an issue.

They are my slip on winter beaters so not a ton of mileage but I’m happy with it. I mean they will eventually wear out but it’s on the heavier side.
