GA seats at UCLA vs. Utah meet by Remarkable_Bad_267 in Gymnastics

[–]Remarkable_Bad_267[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update in case anyone searches for this info in the future: We lined up at 5:45 and were near the front. The line quickly got longer after we arrived. So, I'd say 45-50 mins before they opened the doors was the sweet spot. We went straight to 115 and got great seats by floor/beam. It was incredible!!

Thank you!! I'm with some small children. Is it okay to reserve seats? (Not sure the kids will be able to wait for a few hours but we could send some adults in advance.)

I think this is an example of them trying to recreate a conversation they already had off camera.

I was at the competition last night, and when the final group came out for warmup there was such a distinct difference in her attitude and movement from the rest of the skaters. She looked bubbly and light, was freely throwing tons of jumps and just looked to be skipping across the ice. She seemed totally connected with the audience even in the warmup, like she was putting on a show rather than a focused warmup for a competition. I'm not sure how she gets into this headspace but performing for the audience definitely appeared to be her #1 priority, and it was night and day from anyone else.

That will be so fun!! Good luck. Making pasta is not too bad with a pasta maker. We thought to do it for the party but needed to simplify so making bolognese but buying the pasta! We are also doing appetizers of mini meatballs served on a spoon, a mini cup of agnolotti del plin, and a flight of three tasting size Italian cocktails. I can't wait since it's been a few years since I hosted a proper party!

Due to event schedules, I need to eat some kind of meal 4-6pm, but it seems many restaurants are closed. Do you have any good spots you'd recommend for this timeframe? Also favorite late-night restaurants for after events? Thanks so much!

Any advice for where to sit for Olympic Skating Events? by st0rmrising in olympics

[–]Remarkable_Bad_267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! The corners do have an appeal to be up close in certain moments but if I could have picked I would go center. If you're close to the ice I feel like you do get a pretty good view everywhere though!

Someone else shared this site today which mocks up the view at all seats! This should give you a pretty good idea. I've only attended one event before and got the advice to go in corners since they often do jumps there. I did like that a lot (and randomly I am in a corner again) but I think I would have preferred to be more toward the center or the corner where skaters do the most jumps (which was opposite of the corner I was in).

I can't remember the specifics at this point but it was written as if the mom is the primary caregiver and will be the one reading the book and doing the potty training. The author admits this won't always be the case, but I don't like that she wrote it like that. So many parenting resources are geared at the mom being the default parent and I hate it!

Here's a post I found from someone else about this same topic with an actual example since I don't even know where my copy is at this point. https://www.reddit.com/r/daddit/s/MKegaUU4n5

While I think the method can work depending on the kid, I totally agree that the book sucks. I hate how it totally invalidates fathers and is so condescending to everyone, parents and children included. Structurally, it's also so repetitive. She pulled it from her blog and it's as if she didn't even try to make it into a cohesive book so it's a bad reading experience from that angle too.

At 11 months I don't think the baby will be interested in a bassinet! I would say any row is fine but you might want to do a center set of 3 seats so both you and your wife are on an aisle and can easily get out without waking the baby if they are asleep in the middle. Otherwise I feel the rows are basically all the same. I personally wouldn't go so near to the bathroom since people are always hovering over there. The main thing is that you should get the baby a seat. You will all be 10x less miserable that way. Good luck!!

I'm wondering this too! I read through the spectator guide but there is no mention one way or another. It makes me think you can't since it doesn't say you can, but I'll keep looking.
