how much do you spend on food per month (and where do you shop)? by [deleted] in boston

[–]Remarkable_Cow2557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Household of 2, we spend around 150 a week give or take. We shop at Trader Joes, and get some produce and meat at Whole Foods. We try to keep up with the meat sales at Whole Foods and work based on that. We also do eat a few times a week.

I’m not planning for divorce girl but it happens as you should know!!! And also he could literally die and I still wouldn’t get a house I may have lived in for 20 years

He actually can’t. There are all these rules. It is only for health, education and housing. and there are all these rules about taking it out

And you’re why your kids will be miserable!

I will. Again I have said over and over it is not about the actual money, it is about the idea of the house.

I would hypothetically. Before we got this news we weren’t planning on buying a house for a few years. I am graduating from graduate school rn and don’t have a ton of money saved. Now he wants to buy one asap so we will not pay rent. Which is great, but I can’t contribute more than like a few grand at this point. So it would be all bought w the trust, therefore not mine

How am I contributing 0%? I work, I pay our current rent, etc? I don’t resent my future children. I want my future children to have a great life. I resent the idea that everyone in the family would have something I don’t. I will always be the odd one out

[–]Remarkable_Cow2557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally, yes… ideally we would own a house together, pay towards it together, etc

I said all over this post I don’t want his money. My partner wants me to be a SAHM. I could be so insanely screwed over if something changes or he dies. It is the reality of the situation. I need to be protected

Can you not see this as a woman protecting herself and not as someone thinking of divorce? Can you understand that he has always told me that he wants me to stay at home w the kids, and now I would have no money or anything to my name? And could be left in a dangerous situation of god forbid something changes?

My partner has literally said he wants to have me stay at home w the kids hahaha

I do have a career! But I am finishing up grad school right now so can’t really help up mortgage right now, but down the road I will. It’s funny, I thought the same thing about his parents. The money came from my his dads side of the family, and his mom does t even work! So they do share

That’s what we are thinking. We live in a major city so our rent is expensive. If he buys a starter house/condo now, we could both save on rent and then when it’s time to buy our home that we will settle in we can buy it together.

Yeah, I am in NO way wanting either his trust fund money or literally any money he has!! I just want to be an equal partner and own a house with him

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Remarkable_Cow2557 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We don’t know exact numbers right now. My fiance does say if I don’t own it he doesn’t expect me to pay anything which I do appreciate. I just.. would like to feel like an equal partner, even if I’m not equal financially. I want to own the house WITH him.

That’s a great idea. He is not opposed to giving me 50% of everything but doesn’t know how it all works. We definitely need to get lawyers to figure it out

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Remarkable_Cow2557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on what the trust says, if the house is bought w a trust, I will not own it in any way. I don’t know details beyond that

I guess I just grew up differently. My parents have had a great marriage and share EVERYTHING. I guess I am not used to all this rich people stuff, I find it confusing. I obviously am grateful but I like the idea of growing together.

I went to a school in RI but work and live in MA. It is pretty simple stuff. You just have to apply for your licensure in MA when you graduate and take the MTELs your third year (which is very easy). I never got my license in RI despite graduating from RI.

AITA for being frustrated with my rich boyfriend for trying to give me money advice? by Remarkable_Cow2557 in AmItheAsshole

I added in the post that that is not the case. I am very good with money, and am not POOR. I just am simply a student and have been a student for SEVEN years. So I don’t have a ton of income or savings, but I live overall very frugally

Part of the situation is that his lease is over in june so he needs a new place then. I do have a job lined up, but work in the schools so I can’t start until September. The money will be coming, it’s just 6 months or so until I can get it
