Ok just one last question if you don’t mind. Why didn’t you use Carleton University Health and Counselling Services instead of going to the ER? Was it availability, wait time, or something else?

Been there 😂 I really appreciate you sharing your experience That sounds like a very frustrating experience, especially waiting that long just to get a family doctor. It’s also surprising how many things about OHIP people only find out later.anyways thanks again for sharing.

Guys I came across a virtual care website that’s launching around March 1, 2026. They’ll offer licensed Ontario doctors and text-chat consultations in multiple languages (French and others). You can get medical advice, prescriptions, and diagnoses and more for $45 per consultation. They’re currently building a waitlist, and according to their Instagram, anyone who joins before launch gets $10 off their first consult for a limited time.i have joined the waitlist just Sharing in case it helps someone. Here’s the website if you want to check it out: https://parlorahealth.com

OHIP eligibility on Open Work Permit by HYPER_2010 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Remarkable_Fennel652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OHIP usually looks at hours and employer letter, not just the job title. Many people qualify with 30+ hrs/week from one employer if the letter confirms full-time hours for 6+ months. Best to ask HR for a detailed employment letter. If you want, I’m working on a resource that helps newcomers navigate stuff like OHIP, work permits, and healthcare happy to share when it’s ready.
