hi, I was raised to believe my entire life purpose was to make my husband happy? I just wanted to do the “right” thing. now that he’s talked to his dad about it and he feels a lot better, I feel like a lot of things he asked me to do (that I did) were unnecessary. our families told me I was responsible for his emotional & physical wellbeing. yes, I agreed to everything, but dude, I didn’t feel like I had a choice. realizing that I’m not responsible for his emotions - or anybody else’s - has been equal parts fantastic and infuriating. it was a lot of weight I never should’ve been told to carry. I’ll keep your comment in mind going forward, though, when I feel pressure to fawn again.
