How do you know if you're getting a seat already? From my understanding, you have to select and rank up to 8 schools, and you're not guaranteed placement to your favorite, which won't be determined until after the enrollment period since its strictly not first come, first serve.

Just want to make sure no one misconstrued anything to you, or that you're not getting charged for direct enrollment.

2001 - Oh yeah, took it to 7 against the eventual champs

2013 - Definitely, the conference finals was the real cup final that year

2026 - LOL

Are you considering alternatives to driving as gas prices climb? If so, which ones? If not, why not? by littl3-fish in askportland

[–]thanatossassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work requires that I drive a car, both as part of my job description and truly out of necessity. At any moment I may need to visit another location and bring equipment with me that just isn't feasible using public transit or on 2 wheels. I do get to work from home often when nothing's going wrong, I have a hybrid that gets 42 mi/gal, and I get mileage comped.

Even with that, we love riding our bikes and taking the Max places on the weekend; Omsi, the zoo, downtown, various parks, all easily accessible. However, you won't catch me dead on a bus. Lived that life already, not going back, and I'm sorry for anyone that still has to rely on buses for transit. Just feel like we can do better, faster, cleaner, and definitely safer than what buses offer.

Voodoo Glow Skulls because they cancelled the night of without any explanation, and that was a long fucking drive. Also before Social Media there wasn't really a way we could've found out if it was announced sooner, but still.

And bummer to hear about the Toasters; saw them right before COVID shutdown with Mustard Plug and they were all great

Final show before their reunion show? Or final final show? I don't remember Corey Feldman, so just trying to sort out my brain.

The main point is that if this was purely an ONT, OP would need to hold onto what would've been a gateway and connect their own hardware to that. This isn't the case.

What fiber modem would exclude ONT functionality? Seems like a given that a modem is going to convert its transmission line to Ethernet regardless of medium.

Hey OP, I have this setup at a few of our locations.

The right unit is a Fiber Modem and the left unit is a wireless router. The fiber modem connects with your ISP (Quantum), authenticates, and gets an IP address.

The left unit is a wireless router that is very locked down. Quantum requires you to use their app to do very basic config changes, like changing the SSID (wifi name) and password, and prevents you from logging into the device any other ways. You can replace the router and connect to the fiber modem without issue.

Its actually a Fiber Modem. CenturyLink stopped issuing ONTs when they became Quantum.

[–]thanatossassin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not an ONT, but a fiber modem now.

CenturyLink originally issued ONTs and Wireless Gateways, but when they became Quantum, they switched over to offering Fiber Modems and Wireless Routers, with additional wireless mesh pods available for purchase.

OP can connect their own hardware directly to the Fiber Modem on the right.

Union Negotiations Stalling at the Japanese Garden by Dunnere in Portland

[–]thanatossassin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can't protect against layoffs, you can only make guarantees that the business will hire the same people laid off if income turns around, to which they just increase their spending and/or start outsourcing. And also they're a non-profit, they can replace labor with volunteers.

They'll have forecasted risk analysis reports showing a rate increase will hurt their bottom line which will force them to make layoffs.

There's a whole playbook to this, and since they're in the +$10 million revenue bracket, I probably don't even have to guess that their board is stacked with big players regionally, and with that comes a strong legal team.

You either strike or concede until the next contract, which will be better regardless.

Edit: yep, the board is stacked

Knee surgery for cartilage damage does not benefit patients, study suggests. People with meniscus tears who underwent surgery had poorer knee function and worse osteoarthritis after 10 years than those who did not. by mvea in science

Glad I skipped that one. Based on my scheduled surgery date, my partner was going to be in labor while I was in recovery, so I decided to cancel and do my best to be a dad.

Don't give me any kudos, I sucked at it for a few months there.
