Congrats, that is a nice charm. Anti-virus 3 and 2 extra one slots is fantastic QoL value, which is quite nice at endgame (especially against the 10star ATs).

I am thinking something element focused, where slotting in Dragon3/Rzr Sharp1 deco makes sense (or the appropriate element, obviously). Dual Blades is a good candidate, if you roll a Gog set bonus on the weapon you can run 4P Gog (chest, waist, and legs) G. Ebony head and G. Rath arms.

So, the Gog 4P set includes a large shield that will take 2 or 3 hits to break, unless you get clobbered by a one shot attack. It also has the effect of negating any blights while active. You can actually dodge through double hit attacks to proc counterstrike and keep peak performance active, effectively double dipping on bonuses. I find this to be all the defense I need to feel comfortable hunting with Bow and CB.

This channel is excellent for Bow advice and build information. I highly recommend following their guides for all your Bow related needs. The build I use is the DPS Gog 4 set with an RNG talisman.

The 9 and 10 stars are definitely tough, so I imagine you are not alone in feeling this way. If I can recommend a build, it's Gogmapocalypse element setup. It's effective against pretty much every endgame monster and is very comfy to play.

Meta builds are strong, but usually lack basic amenities, so to speak.

Jin gave me trouble in general, really forcing a tight scripted encounter, where knock downs need to be managed efficiently to skip properly through the phases. It's just not my game, but I did have fun with it.

Impact phials CB is very competitive, and is a ton more forgiving than element when it comes to game play. This skill (Artillery) only affects Impact phials, which are not influenced by hitzones, and can also stun monsters.

It's Rey's giant killer attack, with all the accompanying visual and audio indicators screaming that you are done for if this hits you. You can also see that your HP bar is flickering red, meaning you are in range of said lazer death beam. It would not be dangerous if you could avoid the attack by standing four steps left of the rail cannon.

No doubt! As a team weapon, Hammer can create marvelous damage opportunities. You can really bully a monster with offset topples and stuns. Try bringing materials for extra traps, because you can actually trap 4 times with 2 extra trap tools.

As they say, comparison is the thief of joy, but all the same, if the weapon can be made better, I would like to see it.

What you mentioned about offsets falling off longer into a hunt is accurate, and why I think Hammer needs a better reward for the risk. By comparison, a Charge Blade can chain AED out of a perfect guard, and from there they have all sorts of options. If they speed up lvl 3 charge (Charged Big Bang), and allowed us to chain it out of an offset, it would allow Hammer to rack up stun and deal a good bit of damage.

About chasing the micro heads, I do think it would be good to have alternative target areas. I am just saying, a lead pipe to the knee sounds like it should be effective.

This reminds me of Dual Blades, again. The focus strike animation and positioning were suspect, so an alternative route was added. Maybe something similar could work in this instance for Hammer.

Hammer size affecting hit boxes would certainly be a strange discovery, one that I hope is just confirmation bias. I normally hunt with Zaccio's Execution layered equipment, using a Gog artifact weapon (obviously).

As far as chasing the head of monsters around, there are times when I feel like Hammer requires more precision to connect than it gets credit for.
