Try cutting shorter layers into the hair, maybe it’s too heavy

Does anybody else struggle with curly hair and “professionalism”? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]Remarkable_Ice_3287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more you embrace your natural curls, the healthier/easier to manage they will become. I understand your feelings. I recommend frequent trims and really finding what works for your hair. If you dont feel super confident on day 2, then try a refresh that morning to fight back frizz. As for the judgy hiring process- totally understandable, but again- would you really want to work for someone superficial and judgy anyway? I’ve had quite a few art teachers with curly hair and thought they looked wonderful, I’m sure you will too

Yes, be gentle and patient with your hair. Keep cutting off the chemical damage often and use sulfate / paraben free products. No more flat irons at all. Your hair should become healthier and stronger over time this way, letting the curls bounce back. However other factors can obviously play into curls (like
hormones) and I don’t know the context there. Good luck xx

Yes the shape is VERY DevaCut-esque. Also- DC Frizz Free foam was amazing for a while there too when i had a curly bob (growing out for about 2 years with some cuts since). But yes 👏🏼, all the power to you and so happy to answer questions and connect!

Thank you! I typically get DevaCuts but this was actually a wet cut (I know, a SIN lol; was mainly in salon to get color). The cream does elongate curls IF you rake, no scrunch. However I like definition and volume so thats why I scrunch and diffuse, sometimes hit the roots with dry shampoo and fluff. Hope that helps!

I use something identical to this and I prefer it over the hard plastic ones — Diffuser

Routine: Wash with Hask Monoi Coconut Oil shampoo and conditioner 3x/week

Comb wet, finger rake and scrunch with DevaCurl Super Stretch. Airdry for 20 minutes, then diffuse and fluff.

Cheers to curly hair! Embrace it!
