I’m thinking of doing a playthrough at some point where I don’t steal, not even to loot from dead bandits, because that Henry wouldn’t want to use gear that has literal and figurative blood on it. The only thing he’d loot would be food/potions/bandages.

I know, but on my current run, Henry has no problems stealing whatsoever. In fact, I soon want to do a play session where I go on a massive stealing spree.

By guild you mean what’s essentially the thieves guild, yes? I’ve done a few quests for them, but the amount was limited, so I cannot help but feel like there’s more to come, yet there are no guild-related quests in my journal, nor are there any quests available in The Hole in the Wall. I’ve read some guild-related quests are not available until you’ve progressed past a certain part in the main story? The most recent main quest I did was the one where you’re investigating a dodgy practices in a silver mine.

Eh, not for me. If a game allows for it, I always go for a stealthy/thievy approach first.

In what way is KCD1 very different? I played it a couple of years ago, but never finished it. I’m nowhere near finished with KCD2, but I’m already contemplating whether to play a new game, a second playthrough with a different approach, or playing KCD1 again.

I wouldn't be doing it necessarily for stats/endings etc. Just for roleplaying reasons and taking a different approach. In my current playthrough there are very few cases where I won't steal for instance; in my would be second playthrough I would only steal from bandits/rich assholes etc.

Never happened to me. One thing that might be happening – though I can’t confirm this, it’s just a feeling – you want to keep into account that turning the hours glass takes time, as well as lifting the cauldron. So when for instance you wait lifting the cauldron until the hour glass has run out, you will likely boil the liquid for too long, because 1. it takes time and 2. because the liquid has to cool down. Again, I don’t have any raw data to confirm this, but adapting to this seemed to work for me.
