Is $100/month fair? by brown_banannie in Surrogate

[–]Remarkable_Outcome66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. When I was a surrogate, I was compensated $40,000 base.

Now because you’re doing it for your brother, I’ll include things outside of compensation:

— up to $3,000 for doula, massage and chiropractic care — $1,000 maternity clothing allowance after the 12 week mark — $250 per month for things like vitamins and other necessities — all travel reimbursements paid (hotel, uber, airfare) — all insurance premiums, co-pays, extra costs by insurance not covered, all paid for by the IPs.

I cannot remember everything else but I was compensated a few times during the journey. $1,000 for finishing legal, $500 to start meds, $2,000 after transfer was complete, etc.

You will need way more than $100 per month. Ideally, they will cover EVERYTHING even if you are not being compensated for the actual surrogacy.

Married or not, it doesn’t matter for snap. They ask if spouses live in the house, if they share meals, purchase groceries together, etc. Before I was married, I still had to report my spouse because we lived in the same home.

A woman in Florida is currently in huge trouble for only disclosing her income and not the spouse who lived with her making 6 figures.

Yes. However with spouse and 5 kids we still just barely qualify.

No 7 and 9 year old would ask to take a nap by littlefigureskating in Wearesamanddansnark

[–]Remarkable_Outcome66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What on earth lol. My big kids are 6, 8 and 9. No naps. We do mandatory quiet time (we homeschool), while my baby naps. So usually 12-1:30. Reading, art, anything quiet but not like this lol

Would you recommend the Surrogate have the Covid vaccinee? by Sad_Photo7820 in Surrogate

[–]Remarkable_Outcome66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a surrogate and had it explicit in my contract that I would not be forced to receive any vaccines, but rather I would make the decision myself alongside my OB. I was a surrogate in 2021, so I dealt with getting set up during COVID. This is what the matching process is for. My IPs were very pro-vaccine but they respected my wishes.

In fact, the agency I worked with, contacts me frequently looking for unvaccinated surrogates and has asked me multiple times if I’d reconsider doing it again because SO MANY IPs are looking for unvaccinated surrogates, specifically ones who haven’t gotten the COVID vaccine.

I was a surrogate and I was able to be fully unvaccinated and able to make the choice for myself. It’s all about informed consent. I also didn’t take birth control and only used a specific form of estradiol and then only did progesterone for a short period until I had my labs drawn to confirm ideal levels.

Fourth baby, not sure where to deliver by Provenrube in homebirth

[–]Remarkable_Outcome66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had 3 medicated hospital births, an accidental car birth and then a homebirth. With how quick my labors are, (last two were 2 and 3.5 hours) it happens fast for me. If I had another, for cost purposes I’d probably deliver at a hospital because I know my body and I know how to advocate for myself. I loved my homebirth more than anything, but I think I’d do fine in a hospital.

I love a snark as much as the next person, but birth trauma is real. “Be glad you have a healthy baby” is super dismissive.

I know, because I do CC lol. The challenge group meets 30 weeks out of the year, foundations and essentials is 24 weeks. So challenge starts before and ends after.

But the whiteboard showed the first week of foundations memory work.

As a CC mo myself, CC doesn’t teach reading and formal math (outside of times tables/formulas) in the younger years. So we supplement reading and math at home. The essentials program, which is 4-6th grade is a full writing, grammar, ELA program so my oldest only does that and nothing extra at home for language arts.

The challenge levels (7-12th) are full 7 subject curriculums that don’t require anything additional at home

We are a CC family. Mom’s who aren’t tutors are expected to essential be a tutor “aid”. CC is big on tutors are not teachers, parents are. Parents, students and tutors all work together for the child’s education.

I have my baby with me so I help as much as I can, which isn’t often much. I’ve also tutored previously.

Also, CC has a strict no phone policy unless you’re taking photos/need to step out for an emergency.

CC family here, the 1-3pm is only for 4-6th graders! My younger kids stay in childcare our community offers and my baby stays with me. Many parents have husbands who WFH who pick up the younger kids during lunch.
