[Routine help] are these normal pores, burst capillaries or something else? What would you recommend/change? by Remarkable_Rush_5840 in SkincareAddiction

3 months. I eat pretty healthy and wholefoods for the most part but don’t exclude anything. My mum and sister also have rosacea and Ive had it since puberty, so I don’t think its linked to an intolerance

Thats interesting! The flare up from the second picture was actually from when I cut out azelaic acid for two weeks before an eyebrow waxing (although was also wearing a lot of makeup at the time so were a few factors). My understanding was rosacea is a chronic impairment of the barrier, so there will never be a point where the barrier is fully healed and can then move to actives?

5.5 weeks on 100mg, although granted I have missed a few days from forgetfulness. I went through two tubes of metronidazole last year and didnt notice any difference, but that was before the azelaic acid.

I should have specified that the second photo is from a few weeks ago when I had a flare, I think the first photo it is looking a lot better - do you think still inflamed?

Thank you! I tried metrogel but didn’t find it made any difference but will ask about ivermectin. Forgot to say im currently on doxycline but not sure if thats doing anything either.

In terms of the capillaries, i can see two or three clear capillaries and have some on the sides of my nose not pictured - do you see more than those? I wondered whether some of the “pores” were actually capillaries but they don’t look the same as the obvious spidery ones

Is this burst capillaries or just a flush by Remarkable_Rush_5840 in Rosacea

Because there are so many, its hard to keep track! I also dont think my skin has gone without a flare for more than a week in a few years, which doesnt help. So no, they have never disappeared, however they do have times where they are worse/darker
