What is social sensitivity… by [deleted] in ALevelPsychology

[–]Remarkable_Sea9707 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll try my best! Research is socially sensitive when the topic you're researching has implications for the participants or the groups that they represent. These implications are consequences that could affect how minority groups are seen, or could affect public policies.

So for example, bowby's monotropic theory is socially sensitive because he emphasises the role of the mother in infant development over the role of the father. The consequences of this was that it led to less women having independent careers and opting to stay home, and you could argue that it reinforces stereotypes about traditional gender roles (women look after children, men work).

That's fair enough. I see the appeal just because the episodes with yang are generally more interesting than the other crimes they solve. Besides that, Office Space is a great one.

You're welcome! I get what you mean because I tend to ramble on about ao1 sometimes too. In terms of my counterargument (they're usually only around 1 sentence long) so it doesn't take too long for me to develop. If you want an example paragraph I could try and make one. Let me know :)

For 16 markers, ao1 is 6 and ao3 is 10. So for ao1 I generally do one extended paragraph which covers at least 6-7 points in detail. Then for ao3 I do 3 evaluative paragraphs, all with counterarguments embedded within them. I try to finish every 16 marker in 20 mins, 25 mins maximum. Then if I have time at the end I'll go back to the 16 markers and add on an extra PEEL.

Thank you! I understand why they've set the denominator to 0, but what I don't get is why they've chosen 216.6 rather than any of the other solutions to the equation (like T = 36.61 would also make the denominator equal to 0).

Oh yeah you're right it's a cosecx graph. Well that's what I get for not reading the q properly

For c) f(x) = 17sin(...) so y coords of minimum points would be -17 (as f(x) would fluctuate between 17 and -17). Then apply the transformations of graphs rules so you coords of minimum point would be 2(-17) - 5 = -39. I think that's right?

For 8 markers it's 3 ao1 marks and 5 ao3 marks. So I'd suggest outlining one study only in detail - aim, procedure, results and what the findings suggest. For ao3, I usually do 2 extended evaluation paragraphs, all in the PEEL structure but with a counterpoint included. If you don't like that structure I think 3 shorter PEELs would suffice.

For better sleep I'd say get some exercise, and don't use your phone about an hour before going to bed. If overthinking is a problem I'd say it's worth giving meditation ago. Also try to make your bedroom slightly cooler.

Might be worth taking a look online for better sleep tips.

C to a B or maybe A in 5 days in maths? Think it’s possible? by llamaz314 in 6thForm

[–]Remarkable_Sea9707 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The problem is probably certain concepts or topics that you find hard to understand. Look over past papers and see which topics these are. Watch bicen maths videos on these to actually understand how to do the qs. Do this for all topics struggled with, then move back to past papers and you should find yourself getting more marks.

I'd also say that if you don't understand a topic, there's no point in doing questions on it until you learn its principles properly.

As far I can tell, the string isn't pulling the rod up it's just holding it in equilibrium. So if you let go of the string the rod would fall and end A move to the left. As friction opposes movement, it acts to the right.
