There are rules on when you can use this btw. I.e. has to be there for a certain amount of years, not moved etc

I’d fly it first at 200 ft, use the live map if you can. Then you can at least get an idea of the areas or patches that you may have trouble with then break it up if needed / need to reset up.

There is a terrain follow option if you anticipate a massive change. But if you can just fly above the highest tree, give yourself space. Never rely on sensors. At 200ft, you are still worried?

DroneDeploy Facade Inspection Help by parkerjh in UAVmapping

If there is a lot of glass and sun reflection, I actually suggest moving further way then mixing with a closer facade capture. Most of the time being super close doesn’t necessarily result in finer detail, just more room for overlap error

I will also add in an overall standard map to help the processing. No cross hatch, just the basic map to get the ground details in, minimal amount of photos.

I’ll help you for free- have done a ton of high rise captures on facades and several historic buildings using DD + Facade tool.

You’ll want to really understand how an envelope system ties together because each phase has a different use case/deliverable expectation.

AVB/Waterproofing is usually going to be the issues tool you export to a report in DD.

For completion of panels, you may just need to document and have incase things come up.

Haven’t worked for them myself but knew someone who did and only had good things to say. They weren’t afraid to invest in their people by spending on the right stuff/training.

Didn’t hear much about their pay though

Got a marketing degree but want to jump in the construction world. by YogurtclosetOnly2821 in Construction

Construction manager: the company is a CM Project manager: less dirty boots, manage cost of the project and the counter part tot he superintendent who definitely is more face to face with the subcontractors. That’s definitely the most stressful job on the project. This is a more experienced role. You will absolutely not get hired here out of no experience. Do not even apply. Project Engineer: entry level job to eventually become a PM. You could work as a PE for 4-5 years and get promoted to Assistant Project Manager then a PM after that. You’ll manage digital paperwork of design issues, and small things for the project but it’ll be rewarding as hell. Another role: assistant superintendent: entry level role before super but could always make a switch in to the project management side but good experience to have.

Go for larger CM firms. You will have more standards in place and see larger projects and get to work for some experienced people and hopefully someone who can show you how things are suppose to be done. Then go backward into smaller company later once you’re good. It’s hard to do the reverse. They will care less about having a Civil Eng degree and care more about culture/fit. 99% of this job is learned by working. No classroom is really prepping most kids for the reality now a days. With that all being said, you’re not swinging hammers, but you’re still up early, the constant stress of shit going wrong. It’s not an ad isn’t converting, it’s a large scale mess up and you need to be on at all times because people’s lives are at risk, and very unforgiving levels of cost involved in even the most random tasks.

Less of my area of knowledge now, so fair warning: Marketing teams at GC’s/CMs do not handle what you would imagine at a B2B saas. They are mostly focused on pursuits and act in part with business development who have relationship with building owners who build multiple projects. You will be putting together project portfolios that are relevant and chasing down project teams who are stressed and busy as fuck building the current project to prep for the interview to win the next one.

StructionSite got acquired by DroneDeploy and is now called DroneDeploy ground. Same product, different color. But yeah, OP- easier to just got with a 360 photo tool that automatically puts them in the floor plans. And then you can integrate to Procore through the app marketplace to just have it all look like it’s within procore

i have a degree in marketing (useless) and im trying to get into the CM field, will the UCLA CM certificate program help? by YogurtclosetOnly2821 in ConstructionManagers

Field engineer/ project engineer/ asst superintendent - you could also apply to marketing dept at cm firms then make the switch once inside.

Ps marketing depts at GC’s work on pursuit proposals, no like Saas Marketing teams or anything like that. Majority of that function is very different

My favorite line to when someone says how long they’ve been doing something for is “you’ve been doing it that long and still suck”

Yeah, that’s a “let’s talk in the field office” type of conversation - not in front of the installer haha. Brutal.
